Ms. Welch’s Class Studies Genre
Ms. Welch’s students have been studying the different genres of literature in her class. They demonstrated their knowledge of this benchmark by creating book covers to depict a specific genre such as science fiction, horror, biography, etc. Students then had to present their book covers to class in a presentation designed either to persuade students to “purchase” their books or to thank them for awarding their book the prestigious Newbery Award for Children’s Literature. The students were very creative in both their projects and their presentations.
