I'm sure that large pot of new funding has already been allocated, but if there were any left or if new funding arises. . .

I would be very interested in some sort of basic animation program or software (it needs to be a bit more versatile than the 3D house program). I can imagine many uses for something like this, esp. for science modeling, math (I dunno--maybe danicing numbers or something), or creating short snipets to incorporate into vodcasts.

Hi, I filled out the intent to participate as well, but I didn't get the nice email message about the meeting. Does that mean that you did not get my intent notice? I originally thought that I would have to miss the first meeting, but now I WILL be able to attend.

On the calendar it shows dates for General and Individual meeting dates (9:00 - 4:00). Are all required or only General meetings?
Are individual dates for additional assistance if needed. How many days are we permitted to miss and still remain in good standing?

The (Science) NSTA conference in Ft. Lauderdale is the weekend of 11/12-14/09 and I will be attending. That is a general meeting date.

I just did an abstract on a great article titled Tapping into active learning and multiple intelligences with interactive media: A low-threshold classroom approach. He believes that teachers have taken the same old content and compiled it into a PowerPoint presentation, which he calls “shovelware.” In the article, Schrand (2008, pp. 78-79) encourages educators, “to avoid using new technologies as shovels and, instead, to use them to build structures for active forms of student learning that were not possible or practical with our previous technologies.”

It is a great article if you get a chance to read it!
