Part A: If I were the law breaker I would feel horible. If I shoud be able to take a life from some one else then the police should take my life away from me. If I were the victom I would be very angered that some person decided to drink twice the amount of the legal amount and then drive. If I were the lawer I would try and fight for the law breaker because its my job.

    Part B: I was uf t qfeh

Im the victim of this crash mr goodman hit me on my way coming from orlando fl. from visting my family im never go get to go on with my life mr goodman was intoxiccated he had over the limit of drinks and instead of him calling 911 idmedtly he calls his girl friend whom in atlanta georgia like she going to get down here fast enough to help him he should have called the police instead and then call his girlfriend after he also should have not walked away from the scean he should have stayed maybe he wouldn’t be charged so much

    A) Well I would feel a lot of pressure due to the fact that few people are against this trial and or with. If the deffendant was drinking while driving under the influence (according to the toxicology report), then I’m almost cetain he was.

    B) From the lawyer’s point of view (Stephan) ….
I tracked the boot prints leading away from Goodman’s crashed Bentley down 120th Avenue, a sand road, to the gate for the property where Goodman went to a trailer and used a woman’s phone to call 911.

If I was the lawbreaker I would feel scared. I would also feel guilty.

I would be mad if I knew that a billionare was seen drinking and he owns a polo field. As judge I would say guilty because if you drink and your drunk then its your fault if you get in a crash.

  5.   Brandon H.on 16 Mar 2012 at 12:22 pm 5

    A. If I was the victim I would be very scared and terrified from the the crashed Bentley to the way with the footprints I would really be not in a very good mood.

    B. Goodman’s Point of View

Well, all I could remember was that I had a dizziness sensation in my head and suddenly I crashed into a tree then I got out of my vehicle and rushed to a house not far to call 911. After I called the number I hide behind a tree so no one could see me. And before long I saw police cars and ambulances on the road.

A.)If I was the lawbreaker, I would feel nervous about what would happen. I would need to stay confident but keep myself hidden. Although I am not on John Goodman’s side of the trial, I think he has a pretty good lawyer.
B.)The Lawbreaker-When Ellen Roberts said that Ihad hydrocodone in my car, I couldn’t believe that they actually would think that I would use that stuff. To be honest, I don’t even remember putting that stuff in my car

    A) If I were the judge, I would feel very excited that the case keeps developing. More and more evidence is being found. The case might end soon.
    B) Judge’s Point of View
Finally, my assigned case is developing. There is finally evidence of Mr. Goodman. He could have used the painkiller hydrocodone. Prosecuters have the evidence, and now the case might end.

    A. If I was the juge in this situation, I would feel that this is where I need to be true to everybody, and do my job properly. Sometimes, if the judge knows the lawbreaker or the victim in a situation, they might show favortisim, and not base their decision on cold, hard facts. I would probably decide that the lawbreaker was guilty. He shouldnt have been taking drugs while driving, and he knows that it wasnt right to do so in the first place. Also, even if he didnt mean to take the drugs in the first place, it wasnt right to leave the victim. He should of stayed and called for help instead of fleeing.

    B. If I could rewrite a portion of the article as another person, I
would probably choose to rewrite it as the judge, and do the part about the defensive lawyer talking. I would probably point out that not all the things he was saying were facts, and some were just his own thoughts. (opinions)

    DaSilvia’s point of view:

DaSilvia got questioned because their were several bottles of alcohol in the barn the night of the crash. DaSilvia heard something in the barn that night but he did not wake up because he thought that the horses were makeing all of the noise. When DaSilvia went to bed that night the office light was off and so was the T.V but when he woke up he found that the T.V and the office light was on and thier were 5 bottle of alcohol in the office as well. DaSilvia heard the noises it waa about 2:00 in the morning right when Goodman called the police.

  10.   Brandon Ton 16 Mar 2012 at 2:37 pm 10

1st activity. If i was the judge in the trail I would have to arrest Goodman for breaking the law. Goodman broke the law by killing someone in a car crash, and having a blood acohol level of .177. Goodman broke the law and got what was coming to him: jail time.
2nd activity. Dasilva’s point of view. ” Is threre any acohol that you found?” Black asked. ” Of course.” I said. I guess there is no point of denying the truth. ” What happend at 3:30 A.M.” Black asked. ” I was so scared. There was this weird noise inside the barn. I didn’t want to go to the barn.” I said. ” What else happend,” Black said. ” My office light was on in the morning but not at nice. I was really creeped. I later found five bottles of acohol in my house.” I said. ” Anything else,” Black said. ” There was a noise at 2:00A.M,” I said. ” Intresting…..” Black said.

Part A) If I were the law breaker I would probably tell the truth and say I did it and take the punishment in front of me rather then try and say that I didn’t do it and take the even worse punishment later.

If I were the victim {even though he is dead} I would feel sad and mad at how someone could be so careless to just crash right into me under intoxication i mean I just wanted to go home and see my parents.

If I were the lawyer of the victim I would stand my case and do what ever it takes to here the judge say the lawbreaker is guilty.

If I were the judge I would claim the lawbreaker guilty but listen to the other side of the story to be sure it wasen’t both of their faults.

Part B) {Lawyers Point Of View} “Call defense to the stand.”
Where were you that night? “At a bar.”
Okay, and how did you get home? “I drove.”
So I see where the problem started, you should have never drove home you should have gotten someone else to take you home or you should have taken a cab. “I know, I know.”
So is it that I hear you are owning up for what you did and paying the price? ” Yes, I will at any cost because I know I did it and I regret everything that happened that night.”
“Okay, order in the court, order in the court the lawbreaker is guilty as charged.”

  12.   Alberto Alfaroon 16 Mar 2012 at 2:55 pm 12

If I were the victim I would have a volume of things to say! I would be very upset with John and his careless actions. If I had the chance to be at the case I would make a speech of the exact events leading to the tragic crash and plead that Mr. John Goodman is guilty of the crash.

  13.   Alexis. Bon 16 Mar 2012 at 6:08 pm 13

Okay, so if I was the victim of the crash, by reading the available information, and knowing that this man was intoxicated, and driving illegally I personally have come to the conclusion that he should be found guilty. Due to him driving intoxicated way over the average levels of one or two drinks but possibly over nine or ten drinks! I think that besides the major punishment, of possibly getting jail time, that he should be charged for all the damage done that night, for the crash, for taking my life, and definatly for driving intoxicated!
Now, I will play as the lawbreaker. I know, no matter what I do or say that in the end I will be found guilty… Guilty as charged. I know what I have done is wrong, but I just can’t let myself give up, at least not on this case I can’t. (*sigh*) I really regret that night. Me messing up effecting this poor kid’s life. He could have lived and I could have died. I know what am I thinking but maybe if we both died maybe I wouldn’t have to be here. Fighting for me to be charged innocent, which I won’t because I’m not.
I can not possibly forget the judge’s role as well. I am the judge, I must make the correct decision. This man is guilty, no doubt about it, but I can tell that this trial is putting this poor, living man through pain. Just the look on his face, he is so pale, like he has just seen the scariest episode of ‘American Horror Story’ that you could tell he wished he had died in that accident as well, especially so the boy didn’t have to sit through this as well. Now this man will be given a ticket for driving intoxicaded, and yes he will be doing a month of community service. But the big thing that everyone here is waiting for is to hear if this man will receive any jail time. Yes this is considered a crime and I am almost positive he has learned his lesson, but if I ever have to see him again in my courtroom he will go straight to jail, especilly if it has something to do with him commiting a crime!
This is all. Hope you enjoyed! I know I did! :)

    (A)
If I was the procecuter I’d say ‘even thought he is rich he should not be able to do as he pleases. I mean this is a free country right, so why are we classifying people. I mean aren’t we all equal, so then give the family of the man who died their rights.
    (B)
John Goodman’s lawyer / Mark Shapiro states that the witness says he only saw John have one drink in one of the bars and three at the other one. But the procecuter says he would have had to have more than that in order to have .177 blood-alcohol level. Then Mark says he would have had enough time to drink 45 minutes after the crash to drink nine to ten drinks.

  15.   Mikayla C.on 21 Mar 2012 at 8:05 pm 15

    A) If I were to play the role of the defense lawyer, I can imagine I would feel put up against be several difficulties. One is having to come up with a way to defend your client. If you are unsuccessful in this I can figure that you would be upset and disapointed. The defense lawyer basically speaks for their client and opposes the prosecution testimony. Another difficulty would be to defend someone when you feel what they did was truly wrong. In this case John Goodman is accused of indirect manslaughter. If you were the defense lawyer and you felt that he should be put in prison, you may have a difficult time defending them, but that is only a matter of opinion.

    B) *Defense lawyer’s point of view*
Myself and the rest of the defense are looking to keep the evidence of hydrocodone out of the trial, so we will argue that it didn’t contribute to John Goodman’s injury.
“If there is an effect, it’s miniscule, a small effect,” I testified to the judge and the jury.

  16.   Joshua Mon 25 Mar 2012 at 12:03 pm 16

Part A: If I were the lawbreaker I would feel ashamed of myself. If I can take someone’s life away from them then the law should take my life as well. If I were the victom I would be furious at Goodman when he went to jail I would want him to be get a sentence in jail a very long time. If I were the lawer I would try and fight for money against Goodman. If I were the judge I would send him to jail a very long time and give him fines.

If I rewrote the article in Goodman’s point of veiw and they were discussing how many drinks Goodman had and his alcohol level, I would tell the judge what happened and how everything happened. Then this would not be breaking the law again by lying to them.

    Joshua M Reply:

Sorry Ms.Sittig it should be Part B: If I rewrote the article in Goodmans point of veiw and the were discussing how many drinkks Goodman had and his alcohol level, I would tell the judges what happened and how everything happened. Then this would not be breaking the law again by lying to them.

  17.   Alejandra Mon 25 Mar 2012 at 7:25 pm 17

A1) If I was the lawbreaker I would feel regret of drinking alcohol and driving. 2) If I was the victim I would have felt confused and desperate of what was happening and sad knowing that my life was in risk. 3) If I was the lawyer ( prosecution) I would feel eager to find all the possible evidence to bring justice to the death of a young adult. I would also feel repulse of the fact that he didn’t call for help to save Wilson 4) If I was the judge I would feel like I have to be fair to both sides and expect for justice to prevail
    B) ( Lawyer, Prosecutor) shows an enlarged picture of the street with boot prints mapped on it. Stephan then traced the boot prints to show the path that the lawbreaker followed. That map became evidence for the prosecutor to show that he was heavily drunk.

  18.   Joshua K.on 26 Mar 2012 at 10:07 am 18

A: If I was the victim I would be angry because the man who caused the accident had been drinking and under the influence of a drug.

B: Prosecuting lawyer point of view- We feel confident that it is clear that John Goodman was under the influence of achohol and hydrocodone.

From the lawbreakers POV. (Point Of View)

    2:40 P.M. Friday
The PBSO forensic toxicologist Tate Yeatman is back after a break in his testimony, and he is here to show the results he got from a blood test of my blood found at the scene. He says “Goodman’s blood-alcohol level was tested at .177 percent and .178 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent, and the equivalent of nine to 10 drinks still in his system.” Right then, I knew I would be found guilty. I prayed to god and said “Please help me!” But then, it gets worse. Yeatman says that there also was 42 nanograms of hydrocodone per milimeter in my blood. I now know that I am toast.

  20.   Sydney B.on 26 Mar 2012 at 11:39 am 20

    A) If I were the LAWBREAKER I would fight for what I stand for unless they have evidence on me and in this case they did.
If I were the VICTIM I would sue for everything he or she destroyed.
If I were the LAWYER of prosecution I would say that he was guilty and hopefully would plead him that.
If I were the judge I would plead the lawbreaker guilty.
    B) (Judge) Order in the court , ok so I heard Goodman’s blood-alcohal level was very high is this true?

  21.   Kevin S.on 26 Mar 2012 at 1:06 pm 21

    Prosecution’s point of view.
    1. If I were the prosecution I would have a lot of confidence because I would have evidence to use against Goodman.
    2. After asking John Goodman questions he could not answer that convinced the jury that he was drunk driving. The defence tried to convince the jury that he was inoccent but he did not have the evidence to save Goodman.

  22.   Ryan Eon 26 Mar 2012 at 4:08 pm 22

    A) My point of view is the victim, Scott Wilson. If I was Scott Wilson, I would feel sad and angry. I was just driving home from school to be with my family when this car came out of nowhere slamming my car into a canal where I ended up drowning. I had my whole life in front of me, and all it took to end it was a drunk driver.

    B) I am Scott Wilson. I was killed in a car crash by John Goodman who is now on trial for DUI manslaughter and wreckless driving. I am in Heaven, watching the trial. The toxicologist has just stated that John Goodman’s blood-alcohol level was tested at .177, over twice the legal limit of .08. This meant he had somewhere around 13 drinks before he decided to drive home that night and hit me. His lawers are trying to say that John Goodman drank all of that after he hit me. If John Goodman was not drunk when he hit me, then why would he not have helped me and saved me from drowning? If he was drunk, then why would he have even thought that he was ok to drive? All I know for sure is that I am dead, and my family is broken hearted.

  23.   Hannah T.on 26 Mar 2012 at 5:13 pm 23

    Judge’s Point of view:

As the judge residing over the John Goodman Trial if the jury is to find Mr. Goodman guilty I would use my power as a judge to provide the most beneficial outcome for the victims family, as well as the state of florida, and the city and residents of Wellington. Mr. Goodman made bad choices that killed and innocent person. Using drugs and alcohol while driving is not a responsible action. If the jury found Mr. Goodman Guilty I would not throw him in jail the longest sentence possible. I would fine him $5 million to be paid to the victims family, he would be sentenced to 5 years in jail to think about what his actions have done. I would also take away his driving privileges for life, sparring the potential any more accidents to Wellington drivers.

  24.   Ally. Son 26 Mar 2012 at 6:18 pm 24

” The jury finds the defendant John Goodman GUILTY”, the jury exclaimed. ” Would you like to say anything before the officers take you away?” Yes, I John Goodman believe I should pay the price for my actions and I feel deeply sorry for Scott Wilson and his family. I just want everybody in this courtroom to know I am not guilty and this incident was a total accident. If I had known Scott Wilson was drowning I would have gotten help. As a father can’t imagine what you have gone through losing a child.

  25.   Matthew C.on 26 Mar 2012 at 6:55 pm 25

As the judge after hearing all the evendence, and after hearing the defendent drove through a stop sign at high speed and after haaving many alcohlic drinks before and then hitting the other car leaving the scene of the crime, I would find and agree with the jury if they found him guilty.

  26.   Abby L.on 26 Mar 2012 at 10:13 pm 26

    A) I f I were the judge I would be very confused and scared knowing that this man’s fate is held in my hands. I would be listening very closley to all the information and testimonies.

    B) The Jury is out for lunch, and prosecutors and defense attorneys are arguing over the critical, new evidence relating to Goodman’s use of painkiller hydrocodone.

The prosecutor Ellen Roberts had a new revelation: When investigator Troy Snelgrove went to retrieve Goodman’s passport from a backpack in his smashed Bentley, he found a bottle of hydrocodone.

Roberts told the Palm Beach Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath, that she didn’t know about the bottle of hydrocodone until last week.

    Prosecuters point of view

From the prosecuters point of view it seems that Jhon Goodman had a lot of alcohol in his blood he night of the crash. He went way over and his lawyer says he had three drinks at “The Players Club” and only a single drink at “The White Horse Tavern”. Ignacio Figueras (a polo player that plays for Jhon Goodman’s team) was put on the stand and interviewed by my companion Ellen Roberts. It seems that Goodman was paying $120,000 to Ignacio to play on his polo team. The next person that was called to the stand was Marcos DaSilva. Marcos said that he found bottles of alcohol in Jhon Goodmans office in the morning. He also said that he heard noises during the night but did not wake up because he thought that is was the horses making all of the noise. Before DaSilva went to sleep he turned off the office light and when he woke up he found the tv on and the lights and there were 5 empty bottles of alcohol on the desk. Jhon Goodman went down a dirt road and used a womans phone to call 911.

  29.   Julia C.on 27 Mar 2012 at 9:04 pm 29

On the night of the car accident, I had been drinking. On the way home, a college student was on his way home to visit his parents. At the moment, I was passing through an intersection. Another car passed throught the intersection at the same time and he had the rigth of way, but I didn’t stop at the stop sign. Unfortunatly, I hit the other car causing it to spiral out of control. It hit into a canal nearby.

  30.   Nick Bon 28 Mar 2012 at 12:28 pm 30

    I am the defendant’s lawyer.

You see, my clients toxin levels at the time of the accident were very high, so it was clear he was intoxicated and cannot be charged for a life sentence.

  31.   Ian B.on 28 Mar 2012 at 12:36 pm 31

    The victim’s Point of view..

I was driving home from my friend’s house when some idiot was driving too fast. I was shocked when he hit the back of my car. He speed up and hit the side of my car, and it happend: my car filpped into a canal. He drove away from me leaving me for dead.

  32.   Justin Kolnickon 28 Mar 2012 at 12:40 pm 32

I am the judge. I would say that John Goodman is guilty. One of the reason he is guilty is because he was 2 times over the legal alcohal level. Another reason why he is guilty was because he was driving wrecklessly. Also he killed Scott Wilson and he should be charged for manslaughter. John Goodman also left the scene which is another crime. I believe his guilty and should go to jail for more then 30 years.

  33.   Tylo S.on 28 Mar 2012 at 12:41 pm 33

Goodman- I feel that they shouldn’t have arrested me for something I did when I was intoxicated. Jury- I find the verdict innocent because he did not do it on purpose and he did eventually call the cops so I find him innocent.

  34.   Aaron Ton 28 Mar 2012 at 12:41 pm 34

If I was John Goodman I would have called 911 first. After That I would have gone to see if the man was ok. In the trial I would stayed quiet unless I had to speak.

  35.   Gina S.on 28 Mar 2012 at 12:44 pm 35

If i was the judge i would give him guilty because when he because while he was intoxicated he shouldn’t have been driving. So.,. he broke the law anyway.

  36.   jaquana r.on 28 Mar 2012 at 12:50 pm 36

I am writing from the judge’s point of veiw. i would give him a guilty trial because it is his own fault for breaking 2 laws,1 (dui) being intoxicated and 2 a hit and run encounter. by jaquana l

  37.   Gina S.on 28 Mar 2012 at 12:51 pm 37

Redo-If i was the judge i would have said guilty because while he was intoxicated he shouldn’t have been driving because that is one of the laws. And he ran a stop sign.

  38.   Renard Gon 28 Mar 2012 at 12:55 pm 38

My point of view will be the judge. Well basically, John Goodman ran a stop sign in his Bentley at 63 mph. He was at 120th Avenue in Wellington on Lake Worth Road, when he hit a Hyundai driven by Scott Wilson. He called his girlfriend first and then called 911 afterwords. Three hours after the crash, his blood-alcohol level was at .177 percent which was more than twice the legal limit to drive. He faces up to 30 years in jail if guilty.

John Goodman you are here by guilty for a D.U.I., and killing Scott Wilson in the process. You are also guilty for lying about how much you drank.

  39.   Nicholas C.on 28 Mar 2012 at 6:30 pm 39

I am the law breaker and I shouldent have done what has caused this horrible trategie and I am sorry for my DUI action.I am devistated of what ive done.

  40.   Kaitlyn G.on 29 Mar 2012 at 3:40 pm 40

    A) [Victim] I’m sad because I was in the crash.i have my kids at home , because of you I can’t see them. If you were dead how would you feel? now i never get to see my family or friends.

  41.   Hunter Mon 29 Mar 2012 at 4:17 pm 41

    The judge
You are found guilty of the charges listed: For DUI-Manslaughter, having a blood alcohol level of .207 which is more than twice the legal amount of .8. For these charges you will receive up to 30 years in prison.

  42.   jason fon 29 Mar 2012 at 4:31 pm 42

if i were the prosecution i would feel that to put john goodman away you need to talk about how he walked away from the crime seen and how john goodman went to go drink after he got in the car accident.thats how i would put john goodman behind bars.

  43.   Nick A.on 29 Mar 2012 at 4:53 pm 43

I am going to be th judges point of view and how he handles the case. Can i please have the defened to the stand. Answer the question mr.Goodman. ” objection” then i say sastaine. how did you not remember what you hit? “I had wait to many drinks” he said. we fine the defendent gudity gudity. Sentance to a lifetime in jail.

  44.   Liam Stokeson 29 Mar 2012 at 4:57 pm 44

If I were the judge I would listen to both sides but still think that the prosecuter made more sense then the defendant. I would believe that the prosecuter side is more belivable because it doesn’t make sense that someone would leave an accidant and try and drink ten drinks in less than an hour. I belive that Mr. Goodman should not be executed but should be sentenced to prison.

  45.   chadi con 29 Mar 2012 at 5:52 pm 45

  46.   Will T.on 29 Mar 2012 at 7:01 pm 46

    A. If I was the victim, Scott Wilson, I’d feel angry, upset, and sad that John Goodman’s attorneys tried to make him seem like he was a good person and model citizen who should be found innocent of the charges against him. There were also many people watching the trial who think Mr. Goodman was a good person and just made a mistake. He was irresponsible and thought that bad things wouldn’t happen to him because of his wealth.

What they are all missing is the fact the car he was driving ran a stop sign that hit my car, pushing it (with me inside) into a canal where I drowned. Instead of trying to figure out what he hit, Mr. Goodman left the scene of the accident, leaving me to drown in the canal. Before he called 911, he went to a “man cave” where he supposedly drank more alcohol, then finally found his way to a trailer and asked to use Lisa Pemberton’s phone. Instead of calling 911, he called his girlfriend in Atlanta, his attorney, and one of his assistants. Lisa Pemberton finally convinced he should call 911. By this time, I’ve drowned in my car. His blood alcohol level 3 hours after the accident was at .177, more than twice the legal limit for driving.

    B. (Article rewritten from the Victim’s point of view) Prosecutors say Goodman, 48, was driving his Bentley convertible at 63 mph south on 120th Avenue in Wellington and ran a stop sign at Lake Worth Road, smashing into a Hyundai driven by me, Scott Wilson, 23. I was on my way home to Wellington from Orlando to visit my family.

The crash that changed my life, no, it ended my life, happened around 1 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2010. Prosecutors allege that in the hours before the crash Goodman — the founder of Polo Club International Palm Beach — had been drinking at two Wellington watering holes that cater to the polo community.

The impact pushed my car across the road and flipped it upside down into a canal. This is where I drowned. Goodman was charged with DUI-manslaughter and vehicular homicide while failing to render aid. He faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. I, on the other hand, at 23 years of age, will never have the chance to experience life past that fateful night. I will never have the chance to know what it’s like to have a full-time job, fall in love and get married, and perhaps have children one day.

After the crash, Goodman left the scene. He didn’t attempt to figure out what or who he hit, instead leaving me to die by drowning, alone. He ended up at a nearby trailer, where he used a woman’s cell phone to call his girlfriend in Atlanta before calling 911, about an hour after a passerby first reported the crash, according to court records. If he had taken immediate action by calling 911 or attempted to help me I might be alive today.

Three hours after the crash, Goodman’s blood-alcohol level was measured at .177 percent, more than twice the legal limit to drive.

    Judge’s point of view:

If I were the judge of this case, I would find John Goodman guilty of the crime that he has committed. The crime is consisted of DUI-manslaughter and vehicular homicide. The penalty for this crime, if convicted, is up to 30 years in prison. As the judge, I would be open to the lawyer’s, lawbreaker’s, and jury’s opinion on the case before I reached a conclusion.

I am Scott Wilson I died in Wellington FL, I was hit by John Goodman. He was over dosed with alcohol he had past 12-13 drinks his blood alcohol level was between .207 and .237 and the legal blood achohol driving level is .08. I had a whole life a head of me, I died because of him. He drove off while I was dying I do not think he cared he hit me because he thought he was rich but I do know he hit a innocent person. I know that he is jail now so he can not harm any more people driving on the rode’s in Wellington FL. I no thound’s of people drive by were i died and think what if that happened to me, would they ever known i was hit and drowd? If you look at the the new Wellington sign by a dirt rode you will see flowers an crosses were i was hit. I am happy John Goodman is now in jail and the rodes will be safer with him off of them. I rest in peace Scott Wilson

    A) If i were the victim i would feel deeply mad at John Goodman for what he did.

    B) If i were the victim i would feel better that John Goodman went to jail for thirty years. It wasn’t right how much alcohol he had drank the night of the crash. He took the boys life away. He walked away from the scene like nothing happened to try to save himself from being in trouble. Then he walked away without even helping the kid while he drowned in the lake. This is how i would fell if i were the victim how got hit by the car in the lake, and droned.

A)I would feel ready to fight for my victim that he has i killed.I would be the prosecutor.
    B) [I.E Prosecutors point of view] My victim has been killed by this man.He was drinking incredibly much to have an rate of 200-237at the time of the crash. He had to have drank 16-18 drinks in one night. His blood level was more than twice the average, the legal limit. He should be put in jail he ruined this man’s life.He will never have an family or even kids or get to do anything he wanted to do.This is enough to put my Goodman in jail. For years.

  51.   Rachel F.on 29 Mar 2012 at 9:12 pm 51

Part A- Victim: I think that the victim (who is no longer with us) would think that he lost everything. He would probably tell Mr. Goodman that because of his choices that night, he, Scott Wilson 23, lost everything. He was not able to celebrate his sisters birthday like he was coming down for. He was not able to be a known engineer like he was supposed to be. He was not able to find the perfect job. He did not get to start his own family. He lost his free will as well as everything else in the world. He probably would say that because of John Goodman he is no longer in this world with us.

Part B- Defense Lawyer (Mark Shapiro): Shapiro suggests that Goodman had enough time, 45 minutes, after the crash to drink nine or 10 drinks.

  52.   Simrun W.on 29 Mar 2012 at 9:12 pm 52

    Victim’s point of view

Besides the fact that “I’m dead!”, Mr. Goodman should be able to live his life. He was drunk and he did not murder me on purpose. It was wrong to be drunk driving and even though it is sad to be dead at such a young age, I believe that Mr. Goodman should not be put in jail. He still deserves a punishment, but not something that will waste the rest of his life. I believe Mr. Goodman should do community service and this way learn his lesson.

  53.   Becky H.on 29 Mar 2012 at 10:10 pm 53

“It appears this was an extended social drinking situation” Yeatman says.
Yeatman says Goodman’s blood-alcohol level was between .207 percent to .237 percent at the time of the crash, the equivalent of 12 to 13 drinks in his system.

Goodman would have to have had 16 to 18 drinks over the course of the evening to achieve the kind of blood-alcohol levels Yeatman measured and calculated.

The level of Goodman’s hydrocodone was witin a therepeutic range, Yeatman says. Combining two depressants can add to the effects of each, he says.

“There is potential for what we call additive effects,” he says.

  54.   Hanna P.on 29 Mar 2012 at 10:16 pm 54

    Prosecutor
    A) As the prosecutor I would use all the evidence that was found against him, so he would spend the rest of his life in the place he belongs, jail. I would help the jury to see that what he did was wrong, and should be punished for what he did. It is not right that he could live a life, when he killed someone that could be living at this very minute.
    B) Prosecutors point of view Prosecutor Ellen Roberts shows Stephan a huge blowup of aerial photos of the road, with the boot prints mapped onto them. Stephan then traces the path of prints down the road for jurors. The map comes into evidence.
(Her point of view is to show that John Goodmen is guilty of multiple things and all lead to the problem of why he is there.)

  55.   Rebecca k. on 29 Mar 2012 at 10:26 pm 55

A: if iw was looking at this case front he judges perspective, I would be thinking, “Wow, now I’ve seen it all, the innocent victims, and the murderous lawbreaker.” I would feel torn that People would do things like that. I really don’t buy it when the lawbreaker claims that it was an “Avcodent” or like in this case, was “Drunk” just so they don’t have to fess up. I believe that its better to confess the crime than to deny it.

B: If there was one part that I could rewrite, it would be where Yeatman was talking about how many drinks he had, because everybody, including mr. Goodman himself realized that he was very drunk. I would have been asking and explaining to him and the jury why he would not go into the lake and possibly save the boys life.

  56.   Josh G.on 30 Mar 2012 at 7:25 am 56

    A) If I were the prosecution, I would think multiple things. I would feel that Mr. Goodman was just a good man who did a stupid thing.I would also feel disappointed because even if Mr. Goodman goes to jail it will be a lose-lose situation for John and the victim’s family also.

    B) And that Yeatman’s calculation of Goodman’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash is based on Goodman drinking between 8 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
Yeatman says Goodman had to have had more than four drinks to reach his .177 blood-alcohol level. — (Statement made by prosecution).

    Victim’s point of view:

If I was the victim I would be angry because the man left me there to die. He did not even jump in to save me. If you see someone that is drowning in a canel cause they are unconsious you have to jump in and save before they reach to their end point in life. I also feel sad to because I wont be able to see my family anymore. To hear them laugh, to hear them talk, or to haer them cry.

  58.   Adam Oon 30 Mar 2012 at 8:25 am 58

    A. Point of view of the victim. The victim was the driver of the car that was hit. His name was Scott Wilson. He was innocently driving home to see his parents when John Goodman ran a stop sign and hit him. His car was pushed into a canal where he drowned.
From his point of view, he was unfairly killed and I am sure he would like to see justice for the sake of his mother and father.
    B. Defense Attorney Mark Shapiro begins his cross examination of the supposed amount of alcohol Goodman supposedly drank. He quickly establishes that witnesses only saw Goodman have a single drink at the Taven and at the Players Club. He also suggests that Goodman had enough time, 45 minutes, after the crash to drink nine or ten drinks. Shapiro starts in on a line of questions based on hypothetical circumstances.

  59.   Jusitn Oon 30 Mar 2012 at 8:37 am 59

    A.
Mark Shapiro was the defense attorney. If I were his attorney I would feel it would be my job to help Mr. Goodman in his defense. It would be my job to find evidence that he was not drunk, and that he had several drinks after the crash. I would bring in witnesses to testify, including people he was with that night to prove he was not guilty. If I were his defense attorney, I would have to put my personal feelings aside, and focus on facts and helping my client.

    B.
    Prosecutor Ellen Roberts, attorney:
Prosecutor Ellen Roberts has a new revelation: When an investigator looked for Goodmans passport in the smashed car, he found a bottle of hydrocodone pills. As of a week before the trial, she was not aware of this. Since then, she disovered that Goodmans medical records indicate he had taken a pill the morning before the accident. Blood tests reveal he had this drug in his system, and she related how it has the potential to effect the alcohol in the bodies system.

The victim ‘s point of view – If he was still alive he could live a normal life with his wife and family members that he was going to vist. He could be able to see his kids but he cant because Jhon Goodman killed him and goodman was found guilty .

  61.   victoria w.on 30 Mar 2012 at 1:24 pm 61

Lawyer’s point of view: This is very important. Goodman was drinking and he got drunk so he was not thinking, got in the car and was driving home. He hit the boy in to the water and he left the seen, got undrunk and then called 991. He should have called 911 at the seen but he did not and He shold have had some one drive him home. This boy did nothing and Goodman took his life.

  62.   Gabriela C.on 30 Mar 2012 at 1:42 pm 62

Yeatman says Goodman had to have had more than four drinks to reach his .177 blood-alcohol level; nine to 10 drinks.
Shapiro suggests that Goodman had enough time: 45 minutes, after the crash to drink nine to 10 drinks.
“I would expect that individual to demonstrate severe impairment afterward,” Yeatman says. “There is no evidence of gross intoxication”.

  63.   Caysie C.on 30 Mar 2012 at 2:28 pm 63

    (Victim’s point of view)
    A) My point of view is the victim’s:
I would like to start off with saying, John Goodman is a terrible man. He left me to die when he hit me. I was a innocent boy just getting out of High School and he ruined my whole entire life for me and my family. John Goodman killed me and now I can not get married, have children, persue my career, but mostly live my life that I was supposed to live. The saddest part was like John Goodman was drinking and driving and when he hit me and took my life, he left. He drove off, he could have helped me to where I would have lived. If he was afraid to help me, John Goodman could have at least called 911 and asked for help, but he did not and just left me to my death. My life has now ended because of John Goodman and his drinking. I believe that he should be put to jail for many years because of my death, because he did not wish to help me, and was drinking prior to the accident.

    JAQUANA R. Reply:

Caysie very good i love how well u wrote this glib i could really feel the emotion of the victim and how he now cannot “pursue” (also nice use of words lol) on with his life.

A)if I was still alive I would”nt of drunk drived like how john goodman hit me which made me fall into the water and die while he was running to hide from the cops so they would’nt find who killed me and left out his car

  65.   Joseph H.on 30 Mar 2012 at 6:15 pm 65

In this trail if I were to be judge I wold say that John is guilt for the crime of: DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and for killing a civilian. He is also found guilty for not helping the collage student out and yes he could have survived. There for the punishment is jail.

    Prosecuter-
In the John Goodman trial I am trying to convict this man for man slaughter
because its not fair that someone had to lose there life because of a mans actions. And also to make sure that he can’t hurt anybody elses life. Also forensic toxicologist Tate Yeatman “It apears tis was an extended social situation,” Yeatman said. I believe that if goodman wins this case it would be unforgetable.

B- Defense attorney point of view
I would like to begin my cross examination of yeatman at 3:54 P.M. I can prove that witnesses only saw Goodman have a single drink at the white horse Taren and three drinks at the player club.

  68.   Erin Bon 30 Mar 2012 at 9:15 pm 68

I’m the person that died i believe he should go to jail because he was drunk driving and crashed into me and didn’t ever call the police or try to help he just left the scene to get another drink. It is very unfair to me to let him go is because he can do it to some one else as ordinary as me.

If I was the jury in the situation of John Goodman, who was accused of being a murderer, than I would have to listen to the information and the details that the people who were going against each other. Since I believe there was not a video of the evidence that that people gave, I cannot decide who is guilty, and who is not guilty (or innocent) in this case. What I did hear is that John Goodman was drunk at the time he crashed into the car, which made the car go into a river/canal/stream and that is how the other person had died. In this case, according to “NewsChannel5” John Goodman was at a bar/ restaurant named “Players”. From Players, he had left and he was not in good condition to drive, so when there was a stop sign, or maybe he did not see well, he had crashed into the car that was coming in the opposite direction of the car. The car was pushed from the side of the driver, and then the car was pushed into the river/canal/ or stream. In this case I believe that John Goodman was found guilty, so I believe that he had to go to jail, and he was pressed charges. Shapiro suggests that Goodman had enough time, 45 minutes, after the crash to drink nine or 10 drinks. That means that John Goodman had nine or ten drinks, waited forty-five minutes, and then afterwards, he drove off. They are also saying that Goodman had enough time to get out of his tipsy mode, and go back to his regular mode so that he could drive back home without any problems (like crashing into other cars). Goodman should have at least waited to see if he could get better, because I am sure that he was passed tipsy, and maybe even past drunk, and at least waited a bit longer at the bar/ restaurant, not getting or buying any more drinks, but just staying there and waiting for the drunkenness to go away so that he could drive back home without any problems. I believe that this should have not happened, because John could have waited there and then after he was fine, he could of left, or he could have not gotten too much drinks at the bar where he was at, and he could have drove home perfectly, instead of driving home, ending up in a case, and the jury saying that you are guilty. In my opinion from what I have heard, Goodman should be called guilty because of the reasons that I have up in the passage that I have wrote. I had two good reasons of why he should have not run into the car, and he definitely should take my advice and maybe that would have never happened. So once again, in my opinion, John Goodman, should he considered guilty.

I am Scott Wilson. I am dead because some polo player was drunk. I was alive after the wreck but losing blood and I was drowning.I would have lived if he decided to help and lift a muscle to save a life.I had my whole life to live! Now I am gone.
He has blood on his hands that he can’t wash away!He will have to go his whole life knowing he is a manslaughterer. If I was still on Earth I would tell my family I love them, but I can’t know because a few shots of Jack Daniels.

    Lawyers View Point

I as the prosecutor find John S. Goodman guilty under three occasions 1] DUI 2]Manslaughter against the victim Patrick Wilson and worst of all 3] fleeing the scene of a crime that if he would have stayed Patrick Wilson would have survived. I believe John Goodman should get either life in prison or the death sentence. So it is my job to make sure this killer stays in jail for a long time.

  73.   Jess B.on 02 Apr 2012 at 9:35 am 73

If I picked the judge then i would want to look at his records to make sure if he did other bad stuff too. What if he robbed a bank? Did he break into a house? It needs to be certain that he did these things to be gulty for killing an inossent man.

  74.   Tiffany T.on 02 Apr 2012 at 11:05 pm 74

    Tate Yeatman’s point of view

/Just another job…/ I think to myself as I look over details of the Goodman trail. /Hey, Wait….a hit and run, hu? Well, I guess not just another job./ “So, I’ll explain how this machine works to assure you that it’s accurate. This is a gas chromatograph–mass spectrometer. I will be using it to analyze substances in blood. It works like…” I explained the process further, before beginning the process.

When the results came out, even I wasn’t surprised when it was more than half over the legal limit. “He’s over the more than twice the legal limit, and the amount of alcohol still in his blood is equal to 9-10 drinks.” I stated. “And that’s not all, there’s also I’ve also detected about 42 nanograms of hydrocodone per milliliter in his blood. Also with these results, at the time of the crash his blood-alcohol level would be equal to 12-13 drinks.” I told them. “And with the hydrocodone, the effects of both would’ve added on to each other. There is potential for what we call additive effects.” I ended the explanation with that statement and wondered if Goodman was regretting hitting that kid.

if i was the judge i will like to take this case really well because from what the police says is that he was very drung up to 9 or 10 drink’s and when he crash he had a few drink’s on his system but this is a really good case to investigate .

(i.e lawyers point of view ) the police and the judge and all the people taking this case are taking it with carefulness because it is a really delicated cases the lawyer says that he had alot of drinks in the system after the accident happen and before the accident but the lawyer and the judge and the police are trying to figure out why he drink alot or what did he do before he crash so there are alot of things they whant to invstigate .

The point of view from the victims lawyer:

On February 12th, 2010 my client’s son Scott Wilson was driving home when he was struck by another vehicle driven by John Goodman. The life of a 23 year old engineering graduate was cut short and his parents will never see what his life could have been. John Goodman should be convicted of driving drunk and killing Scott Wilson. The maximum punishment should be issued and the parents of Scott Wilson should receive justice for their son who they will never see again because of the actions of John Goodman.

Driving drunk is against the law! When an innocent person is murdered because someone else makes a bad decision the court needs to provide justice for the family who suffers everyday knowing they will never see this person again. If Mr. Goodman is innocent than why did he come from a well-known bar and why were there witnesses saying they saw him drinking? Hopefully the jury will see that this case should be settled in favor of the Scott Wilson and his family. The evidence against Mr. Goodman is so strong how could anyone find him innocent of this crime? The jury will see that on that night Mr. Goodman struck Scott Wilson’s car killing him and then leaving the scene of the accident. His alcohol levels were above the legal limit making him guilty of this crime.

Part A~from reading the posts I can consider that Mr.Goodman killed a young innocent boy named Scott Wilson.Mr.Goodman had over 25 drinks then he went on the rode to drive.Mr.goodman should be sentenced to jail for atleast 30-40 years to life,Mr.goodman can think of the wrongs he did and try to focus on the goods he didnt do yet.Wilson died cause of Goodman. Goodman should face the judges. Part B~I would feel devestated and i probably would have sent many apology notesi would take life cause it wasnt the young man fault that he died it was mr.goodman fault(im acting like mr.GOODMAN) mr.goodman had been drunk and he got on the rode and ran the boy over the lady called 911. well thats all i had to post or say thanks for reading if you did.

    The Victim-
Unfortunately I was killed because John Goodman decided it was alright to drink around 12 drinks and go out driving and accidentally crash into my car. But what shocks me and hurts me the most besides the fact that I’m dead is that he had the audacity to just leave me there to die and to think that I could have had the slightest chance to survive but he didn’t think it was important because of all the drinks he had recently ingested. I think he needs to be taught a lesson and accept that he did something unlawful and accept the consequences of his actions he therefore should take his punishment of prison and learn to deal with his decisions.

I was a victim of a horrible accident.
I was home visiting from college, I was home for my sisters birthday and I was so excited to see my family and my good friends. While I was driving to my sisters house a man named John Goodman was out on the road driving drunk, ran the stop sign and ended my life. Mr Goodman I ask you, if you could take it back would you have not drove drunk that evening? Are you sorry for hurting me, my friends and my family? Are you even sorry for ending my life at a verry young age when I could have been a great enginere, I will not be able to have a family of my own and I will never get to see my family or my friends again Mr Goodman are you sorry for doing this to me?

Sadly, i was killed because John Goodman stated that he ” accidentally” crashed into my car and just simply left me in the car alone, not even the slittiest idea of seeing if I was ok. It was proven that before the crash John Goodman went to a bar and was drunk while driving. It disappoints me because now that i’m dead, I can’t live my life or do the things that iv’e always wanted to do. people should not have to die like the way I did.

    I will be the victim-
On February 12th, 2010 my life was taken by John Goodman. I will never get to see the light of day now that I’m gone. I wont get to full-fill my dreams or see my family or anything ever again after John Goodman decided to be a drunk driver knock me into a river and leave me their to die. By the time 911 was called it was to late I was gone for good but maybe just maybe if John Goodman helped I would still be alive toady even if i had some problems I would still be here walking or wheeling here on earth as we know it. But now I’m up with the angles in heaven looking down thinking why, why, oh why did John Goodman drink and drive then bolt off leaving me their to die. So i guess John Goodman is NOT a GOOD MAN.

I can now not grow up with my mom and dad. I would have been alive today if unless he had hit me. Even if he did hit me i still would have been alive if hge had just stayed and not run, and i could live out the rest of my life.
