Mudslides are considered a “mass movement” Mass movement is the down slope movement of soil under the influence of gravity. It often occurs after torrential rain fall.

Since we are studying erosion and “mass movements” in Integrated this week, I found this really interesting article about possible mudslides in California.

Mudslides are caused when water from rainfall loosens soil and causes it to move en mass from one location to another. In the past, there have actually been mudslides that have caused devastating damage to communities. Read this article
