Do The Write Thing: National Campaign To Stop Violence

The Do the Write Thing Challenge provides middle school students with an opportunity to examine the impact of violence on their lives and communicate in writing what they can personally do to stop violence.

The program involves a classroom discussion and a “Challenge” to answer three questions in written form:

How has youth violence affected my life?
What are the causes of youth violence?
What can I do to reduce youth violence?

  1. Before Mrs. Mayerchak’s class, my writing was poor, plain, off-focused, and unsupported by details. My knowledge of the outside world was dim until expanded by a world of information given through books, essays, and many upfront magazines. She applied things that interest us into our writing and taught us the most important tips for getting A’s, fours and fives on our FCATS, and remarkable scores on Palm Beach and Florida Writes. Not only is this class educating in writing but public speaking, debating, and showing us we have a voice in the world are a few of the many things we participate in during her class. Mrs. Mayerchak has prepared us for the bright future ahead.

  2. Thank you so much for your words and your thoughts.
