Omni PTSA raises $4,500 for Haiti relief

Omni Middle School’s PTSA held a $2 for T today to raise money for Haitian relief.
We were only expecting to raise around $1,500, but the generosity of our students,
faculty and parents has once again surfaced. We exceeded our goal and raised
over $4,492! Additional money has been donated since our “official” count this
morning and we now have in excess of $4,500. Students were giving 5′s, 10′ and
20′s and telling us to keep the change! Parents wrote checks. One student even
gave all his birthday money…over $140!

The PTSA will continue to collect money next week. The fundraising will end
Friday, January 22nd with another $2 for T. This is an event where students pay
$2 to wear a T-shirt to school. This is a big deal since Omni has a dress code.

Omni’s PTSA will donate ALL the proceeds to “Doctors without Borders”.

    Induce tears in the immovable,

    Excite the lethargic,

    Calm the angry,

    Bring hope to the dejected,

    And remorse to the heartless.


    Changing one person,

    Changing one community,

    Changing one nation,

    Changing the world.


    My words make a difference,

    And so does their creator.

    Armed with pens and pencils

    Crayons and markers

    Watercolors, oil pastels, acrylics

    Charcoal and tempera

    I set out on my journey

    Into a different world

    A world where the sky is brilliant shades of blue

    Indigo

    Cobalt

    Cerulean

    All meshing together in a seamless patchwork

    A world where flying horses stampede past

    On wings of flame

    Under a sizzling sun of cornflower yellow

    With the grass like forest green carpet

    Beneath my feet

    A world where logic is overruled by color

    And reason lay pure possibility

    Apples the size of soccer balls

    Hang from giant trees with leaves of polka-dotted pink

    Bubbling rivers in a shade of gold

    Abound with leaping purple goldfish

    A world where time has no jurisdiction

    And limitations make no difference

    A world where I can set my imagination free

    To run wild

    On silver breaths of wind

    I pick up my pencil

    And begin to draw
