                                                                          The Umbrella Pen Essay

     My invention is called the Umbrella Pen. My team and I was thinking of something cool and helpful to use. We had trouble thinking of something but then we got it. We started making a big poster drawn with the image of an umbrella pen. Then we made a story board. That was easy! After we made a script for a commercial and filmed it.

     Our invention is called the Umbrella pen. When you are outside and it rains you don’t have to struggle opening an umbrella. With just a click away an umbrella will just pop out of a pen. It looks like a pen, which it is. You can write with it and it’s an umbrella. Isn’t it cool!

    My group came up with this idea because one of us was struggling with an umbrella. And we thought if it was a pen it would be easier because you would just click a button. So we were thinking…. We got it! We came up with the Umbrella pen.

    The first thing me and my group did was think of an invention. Then we started making a poster showing how much it cost, what it is, and why you should buy it. We also had to color so we did. After that we made a script of what we have to say in our video. When we were done with that we made a story board. A story board is where we have to draw the events in our video and explain. After all that then we started working on our video. When we save the video then we start edited the video. Now were done!

     Our script is about how a boy struggles with an umbrella and wants to buy a new umbrella. Then a sales person comes out and explains to the boy what the umbrella pen is. Then the boy asked the sales persons questions about the umbrella pen. Like for example, how much it cost? What colors are there? And why should I buy it? In our story board the shots that we drew was when Lucas is struggling with an umbrella, then Jayda says her line about the umbrella pen, then Lucas ask Jayda questions about the umbrella pen and Jayda answers them, last Lucas buys the umbrella pen and Jayda gives it to him. We used a medium shot.

    When we shot our video we had some problems. One of them was that Jayda couldn’t keep a straight face. The second problem we faced was that sometimes Lucas didn’t want to do his lines. So we kept on trying again until we got it right. Then we put the video together. What we learned from doing this invention project was to communicate with others. And we finished the project.

Script:
Buyer- (Lucas, struggling with a regular umbrella, at least 1 minute of struggling with the umbrella)

Seller- Are you tired of carrying a big umbrella? Are you tired of forgetting a pen at home? Well here is the solution to your problem, with just a click away an umbrella will pop out of a pen.

Buyer- Well, why should I buy it?

Seller- Because if it starts raining you don’t have to struggle opening an umbrella

Buyer- Oh, How much does it cost?

Seller- It only costs 25.76

Buyer- Alright then I’ll buy it (Lucas gives money to Jayda)
Seller- Thank you, don’t forget to tell all of your friends and family members. BYE!!!!
