Time Remote by JonathanCC & Isabella G

We were assigned an invention project where we had to create our own invention and create various advertisements and descriptions. When we first formed a team to start our invention project we had major trouble brainstorming ideas. We started by making a thumbnail of what our poster would soon be. Sometimes we got into arguments because we are all a little bit stubborn, but, we managed to make compromises to work together.  Also we had a very hard time brainstorming because we each had ideas. Our teamwork was not the best but we had to fit our invention into everyone’s needs also some of us could not get the idea we wanted but I personally think that everyone’s is now satisfied.

            Our invention is called the time remote. It allows the user to travel forwards and backwards in time as well as being able to pause and play the fabric of time itself. We created a fake company that endorses our product, called the TR Company. To come up with this idea we started thinking about how we wish we could go back in time and redo something (like a test). We thought about different designs for the remote as well as different colors, but in the end with a lot of arguing we came up with a modern and sleek design with contrasting color purple and dark gray to stand out. We used this contrast in the description of the poster too.

            The script was basically why decided on the time remote as an invention. The commercial starts with a girl sitting at her desk worrying because she didn’t study for a test. The teacher then comes in with the test, and then leaves to hand in the attendance. A very enthusiastic sales person comes in next advertising the time remote, talking about all of the awesome features. They then are transported to the Jurassic period and hear a dinosaur roar. The next scene shows the girl back in the future getting an A on her test. She thanks the Time Remote for helping her get an A. It was really hard to shoot the scene with the salesperson saying all the side effects and prices because it was really fast.

            With the story board, we originally wanted the first scene in a classroom but it was too loud so we opted to have the first scene outside. The camera shoots us all on a straight on angle with the camera never moving from the scene. We’re having a long difficult time trying to insert the dinosaur into the clip where we travel back in time. We have to make cutouts of us to put into the animation but we are stuck in one pose so we switch poses halfway through the clip. We have to cut out all of the background in the clip so that we are able to see the jungle background we choose as our setting for going back in time. We still have to fix the dinosaur coming behind us as well as the dinosaur roar overlapping our talking. It took several days of trial and error before we even fully understood what we had to do, so now we are still in the process of cleaning up the edges of our second cutout.

            In conclusion we learned all about the process of making an invention. We encountered some difficulties with working in a team but we solved them and it was a great learning experience.

            The project that we have created is called the time remote. It took many steps in a long process to create. The name of the invention is called the Time Remote. The time remote is a device that looks like a ordinary televion remote, but it travels through time. First, we worked as a team to brainstorm the idea—this was a lengthy and frustrating process. Next, we created scetches, a poster, and a video to advertise it. We created a flash, a script, and a voki—an animated character to introduce people to a blog. These, and many other steps we had to complete as a team.

Our invention is called the timeremote. It helps people travel to any exact point in time, or any place at any time. For example, you can travel to france in 1222, from 2012. The company that approves, and endorses our product is called the time remote company. the time remote can be used to study for a test, change the past, or peek into the future. The time remote takes on a modern sleek remote that is a dark gray shade. The time remote is a key to the future.

The steps that my group took to complete this project were brainstorming ideas, creating  a thumbnail sketch, designing a poster, a video, a script, forming a group, and created a flash assignment. Brainstorming was the hardest part for me because two other people in my group kept acting like ceo’s, and never let me come up with a good idea to use. Creating a thumbnail sketch was easy because it is a rough draft for the poster—a miniature version. The video took a long time to complete because we kept reshooting. The rest of the steps were a breeze.

The video took place outside, it starts off with a  girl who did not study her notes for a popquiz, then a fast talking salesman jumped into the picture and said “why study when you can visit the triasic period yourself?”. Next, they returned and finished the advertisement. We honestly had no special camera shots besides the establishing shot. The video was short with some animation.  To fix the problems next time, the groups should all have equal say. To be general, it was hard.

To conculde, we learned and applied all of the skills from this year. Including flash, and some other stuff. The other stuff is stuff such as stuff like moviemaker. Moviemaker had uploaded videos from a camera. The camera was red and we had to figure out how to use it. To conclude it was fun. All in all, I had this class last year.

Working together as a team was very exciting and fun. Creating an idea was difficult at time but when we worked together we came up with a great idea. The whole team sketched what we thought the remote looked like and voted for the best one. Our team did a great job at making a poster while working together. Making the video was a fun process with some difficulties but we at the end we had a great video.

Our invention is the time remote. The remote pauses, rewinds, and fast-forward’s time. We had a difficult time with making up an invention because we wanted something that could help people and attract people of all ages. That’s when we came up with the time remote.

For creating our project we had to do a lot of thinking, like how much it cost and many other things. When we created a thumbnail sketch, all of drew an ad for our product and voted for which one we thought was best. We decided to keep our invention name simple. The colors we picked put where green and grey because we thought they stood out the most. The descriptions told all of the features the time remote had. We wrote the great reasons why somebody should buy our product and we came up with a reasonable price.

When we came up with our script we decided to make it in the setting of a classroom and a student taken back in time. For our storyboard we decided to use close up shots and medium shots. After that we shot our video. Our problem while shooting the video was we couldn’t find the right location. Next time I think we should spend some more time on the setting of the video.

I have learned how to work in a group and come up with a successful invention. Making the videos and creating our poster was very fun. We all had fun creating something fun and exciting.

Salesperson- The time remote is only $125 per month. Side effects may include, frozen time, heart failure, lung failure, exposure to radiation causing death. The TR company is no responsible for any injuries or fatalities caused by the time remote.

PATENT FOR THE TIME REMOTE

ABSTRACT   

The Time Remote is an evolutional product that can take you forwards and backwards in time, as well as being able to stop it. It looks like any regular television remote with the Time remote company logo on it. We chose this product because it was hard to agree on an idea, and we all wished we could go back in time to a certain moment. The main parts of the remote are the manual time input buttons, the forwards, backwards and play button, and the hard plastic remote that holds all the wiring.

CLAIMS

             FIELD OF INVENTION

The remote, along with letting you travel back in time, lets you travel forwards and backwards while letting you pause time. Our remote doesn’t come in any different colors.

            BACKGROUND

We invented this remote to give people a chance to go back in time and correct their errors. It has features that keep people entertained too, like being able to travel to the future. We all agreed that this product would be good for mankind.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

            This remote can take you backwards or forwards in time. It will work under all conditions! It can be used for entertainment (ex: pausing time and pulling pranks, going to the future and seeing new things) One of the best features of the time remote is that you can manually input a date (A.D or B.C) to take you wherever you want.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

            The drawing is of the time remote with all of the features. The plastic remote (fig. 1) is the part of the invention that is vital. It holds in all of the wiring and sensitive equipment. The manual input buttons (fig.2) allow you to choose a certain date and go to that specific time. The last part of the drawing is the forwards , backwards , and play buttons (fig 3.), which allow for fine tuning to exactly the moment you want to go to.

DETAILED DESCIPTION OF THE INVENTION

            This product will revolutionize the way man travels. It contains three main parts. The plastic covering holds in all the wiring and sensitive equipment. The manual input buttons, which let you enter the exact date that you wish to return too. Also the fast forward, rewind, and play buttons, which let you fine tune to exactly the moment you wish to return to once you get to the correct date. The manual input buttons also include an A.D and B.C. button to further control the time that you can return too. Some side effects of the time remote are headaches, nausea, heart attacks and strokes which can be fatal. Specific instructions arrive with the purchase of the time remote.

My invention is The Hunger Game. My group and I all love the book and movie, The Hunger Games. So that’s where we got the idea of this product. Our product is a pin that you put on and it automatically transports you into the game. You can play as Katniss, Peeta, Rue, and many more. When you go into the game you fight. When you want to leave you just take the pin off and you transform back into the real world with no injuries. We came up with this idea because we all love the Hunger Games so we decided to make a product that has to do with it. Then we thought about the pin in the movie and we decided to do something that involves the pin.

First, we were brainstorming ideas for the product. We were talking about the Hunger Games and then my friend in the group said we should do a product about the hunger games. So we did. Next, we practiced making a poster for the product so we each made a thumb nail sketch of it and when we all were done we decided which one was best. After, when we decided which one was best we used that for the big poster. On the poster we had to have the name of the invention, a drawing of the invention, a description of the invention that tells what the invention does, and why someone should buy it and how much it costs.

Our script for our video for the invention was about what the product does and how it works. Also in the video we showed a boy and a girl playing the hunger games and them fighting. In our storyboard we showed the spokesperson talking about the product and a boy and girl fighting in the hunger games. When we shot the video we had problems finding an area where we could shoot. After like 10 minutes I thought of the idea to do it outside where there were trees and stuff. We have learned from this project that we need to manage our time.

  My invention is The Hunger Game. My group and I all love the book and movie the hunger games. The Hunger Games is about a sixteen year-old girl, names Katniss Everdeen. She lives in the future, where America is now called Panem. Instead of states, there are twelve districts all surrounding the capitol and each year a boy and girl from each district are chosen to participate in the Hunger games. The Hunger Games is a televised, fight to the death. Only one can win. Our product, the Hunger Game, allows you to enter the hunger games arena and play as your favorite character. When you die in the arena, you transport into a new arena to start a new game. If you remove the pi you are brought back to the real world with no injuries or pain.  This is a wonderful product for only $1000.99

    When we were brainstorming ideas, we all wanted to do something we all liked. After thinking it over we all decided that The Hunger Games was a topic we wanted to work with. The Idea for The Hunger Game, was then created.  When we did our Thumbnail sketch we wanted to show a picture of the product. In our case, the product is a shining gold mockingajy pin; similar to the one Katniss wore in the movie.  On our sketch we drew a picture of the pin, and wrote a brief summary of our product. Creating our poster was very easy and fun.  We pretty much copied our thumbnail sketch onto a bigger format. We gave a summary of the product, the price and a large, detailed mockingjay pin.

    Our script was about two kids who just bought the hunger game, and decide to go try it out. It also includes a spokes person talking about the product and shows footage from inside the games. In our storyboard we drew four pictures. The first one was our spokesperson talking, the second was the two kids talking, the third,, was the two kids in the arena, and the fourth was the spokes person talking while the two kids fight in the back ground.  When we shot our video, the only problem we really encountered, was trying to find a place to shoot. We finally walked around and found a perfect spot.

  In conclusion, this project was really fun. I have learned to work better as a group. This was by far, my favorite project!
