The Umbrella Pen Essay

     My invention is called the Umbrella Pen. My team and I was thinking of something cool and helpful to use. We had trouble thinking of something but then we got it. We started making a big poster drawn with the image of an umbrella pen. Then we made a story board. That was easy! After we made a script for a commercial and filmed it.

     Our invention is called the Umbrella pen. When you are outside and it rains you don’t have to struggle opening an umbrella. With just a click away an umbrella will just pop out of a pen. It looks like a pen, which it is. You can write with it and it’s an umbrella. Isn’t it cool!

    My group came up with this idea because one of us was struggling with an umbrella. And we thought if it was a pen it would be easier because you would just click a button. So we were thinking…. We got it! We came up with the Umbrella pen.

    The first thing me and my group did was think of an invention. Then we started making a poster showing how much it cost, what it is, and why you should buy it. We also had to color so we did. After that we made a script of what we have to say in our video. When we were done with that we made a story board. A story board is where we have to draw the events in our video and explain. After all that then we started working on our video. When we save the video then we start edited the video. Now were done!

     Our script is about how a boy struggles with an umbrella and wants to buy a new umbrella. Then a sales person comes out and explains to the boy what the umbrella pen is. Then the boy asked the sales persons questions about the umbrella pen. Like for example, how much it cost? What colors are there? And why should I buy it? In our story board the shots that we drew was when Lucas is struggling with an umbrella, then Jayda says her line about the umbrella pen, then Lucas ask Jayda questions about the umbrella pen and Jayda answers them, last Lucas buys the umbrella pen and Jayda gives it to him. We used a medium shot.

    When we shot our video we had some problems. One of them was that Jayda couldn’t keep a straight face. The second problem we faced was that sometimes Lucas didn’t want to do his lines. So we kept on trying again until we got it right. Then we put the video together. What we learned from doing this invention project was to communicate with others. And we finished the project.

Working together as a team was a good experience we got work done way faster but their were some problems that we encountered we could not choose what idea to choose for our invention project also some people could not do their parts correctly and made the video bad. The invention is the invisa- watch it turns you invisible for one hour you can get away with bullies. We came up with the idea when one kid from our group was bullied and wished he could get away so we decided to do the invisa-watch .the steps to creating it are we brain stormed for the idea then we came up with the invisa-watch then we created the thumbnail sketch. We then created the script for are vide and got it approved so we started to shoot are video when we were done we edited it on movie maker. Are script was about how the invisa-watch helps you in life and how you can buy one. The shots in our story boards were him during invisible and the bullies not being able to find him. Problems we encountered were some people kept fooling around and we could not shoot are vide and some people did not speak load enough. From this experience I have learned that there are benefits of working in a group and some negatives. Also that it is hard to come up with a invention and market it.

    Invention Project Quiz by Lindsay L. and Kiersten M.

Group projects mean that you have to work with one or more people. Sometimes it is difficult to work together because each person has a different idea on what will work the best. In the end, a choice had to be made. We decided to go with the Weather Machine.

The Weather Machine is an electronic machine that can change the weather pattern within a 50-mile radius. By pressing the button for sun, shade, snow, or rain, you can make that weather happen. Once you select your weather pattern, just press GO and be amazed.

I came up with the idea for the Weather Machine because it was raining outside, and had been raining for 5 days. I just finally wanted it to stop raining. With the Weather Machine, that became possible.

First, we had to brainstorm for ideas. I had the idea to do the Weather Machine, but not all of the ideas were mine. Also some other ideas that we came up with were a flying shoe, and invisible bracelet, a food phone, and the find-it glasses.

Next we had to create a poster. We decided that we would put all of the information in bubbles with different colors. Also, we made it so that the Weather Machine was in the middle and all of the info bubbles would be around the Weather Machine.

After that, we had to write a script for our storyboard. This was on the computer and took lots of time to develop. Once we had finished it, we posted it on the internet, and continued with the next step.

Finally we shot the video. It took 2 days to make, with a lot of mess-ups but eventually we had finished it and had finished the project. This was very pleasing because we had worked so long on it.

In conclusion, from this project I have learned that no idea is a bad idea. Also I have had teamwork with other people. This has been a very great project.

                 Our group thought of the invention the Super Traveler 3000. We thought of this because a girl in the group is traveling overseas this summer. We wanted to go with her so she said what if we had an invention where we could all hold hands and go somewhere together. Then we thought, it should be easy and portable, like a necklace. Then we thought, what if we could go anywhere in the world. The whole group liked the idea and thus the Super Traveler 3000 was born.
For the thumbnail sketch we wanted it to look like Nathan’s necklace. We wanted the name to be easy and have to do with the invention so we called it the Super Traveler 3000. The color of the invention is just silver, but the places you would travel to are colorful. The invention lets you go anywhere you would like to go in the world. You should buy this product because you only have to pay $3000 to go anywhere. You will never have to pay for plane tickets ever again. Also, you don’t even need to go on a plane, it teleports you there in a flash.
Our script for the invention was that my group would travel to three different places in a short amount of time. First we showed that we bought the Super Traveler 3000. Then we traveled across the globe. We went to Paris, Boston, and the beach. At the end of the video we advertised the product so people would buy it. The shots we used in the video were medium shot, zoom shot, tilt shot, close up shot, and establishing shot. We mostly used establishing shot so you could tell where we were.
The problems we encountered when shooting the video, were we couldn’t remember the script. We also laughed too much. We did not have another person to record the video when Nathan was saying his lines. To solve our problems, we put the script on the ground, out of view, and looked down when we needed a reminder of what the words said. To solve not laughing, we got serious and if you laughed everybody would get mad at you. To find another person to record the video was easy, we just asked another person who was outside to record for us. Although, we did not pick the best person to record, because the video ended up being very shaky and not good quality.
In conclusion, I have learned how to make a good video. To make a good video, you must know what to do. You must manage your time and control the people in your group. You also need to be determined to get it done and finish.

ABSTRACT
The Super Traveler is one of a kind, it takes you anywhere in the world. It looks like an average dog tag, but the only difference is that this one actually takes you to places you have dreamed of going. This idea was chosen because we are sick and tired of sitting on an airplane for 3-9 hours, wasting our money and time. There are four important parts, the dog tag, the microphone, the chain, and the screen.

CLAIMS
This appears to be an ordinary dog tag, but once you turn it on, it is an extraordinary invention, that you will never regret buying. It also has many uses, such as taking your family on a long vacation, not having to go through security, not waiting nine hours on a flight, and not having to worry about if your plane will crash.
DESCRIPTION
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The Super Traveler is much more than people think. It looks like an ordinary dog tag. The necklace comes in: black, pink, purple, yellow, green, red, orange, indigo, blue, violet, white, gray, and much more.

This invention gives people excitement, and entertainment. It has many uses for people who love to travel. This idea was chosen because it was a mix of all the inventor’s interests. The whole group agreed that this would be a creative and useful product. This is a one of a kind invention, and I would recommend buying it.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention’s purpose is to take you places where you have never been before in a flash. This is a cheap way of traveling, and less stressful. This product costs $3000 and you can take as many people as you want. The Super Traveler 3000 is voice activated, all you need to do is tell it exactly where you want to go, and you must be touching to travel together. The Super Traveler looks like a dog tag, so you can put it around your neck and you will never lose it.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The drawing is a dog tag. The dog tag (fig. 1) is the most important part of our invention. It has the ability to help you travel anywhere in the world. The screen (fig. 2) shows you a picture of where you will travel. The microphone (fig. 3) is towards the bottom of the dog tag, you speak into it and say where you would like to go, and it takes you there. The chain (fig. 4) helps you carry it around, without losing it.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
There is nothing that compares to this invention. It is the first of its kind and probably the last. It contains three important parts. The chain is meant to keep the Super Traveler close to you at all times. The microphone is at the bottom of the Super Traveler, so it will be easier to speak to. The voice activation is the only thing that helps you get you to where you want to be. The necklace comes in different colors, to fit your personality. However, there are a few side effects. You could be stuck in one place for a minimum of 5 hours. You need to speak very clearly to the Super Traveler, or you may end up in the wrong place.

The invention me and my group invention was FLEXI SPRAY. We came up with FLEXI SPRAY when Mr. Goldstein was showing us example videos from past years. One invention got us thinking when finally we thought of things we were able to do because later on in the project we had to make a video. Katie and Hannah were both cheerleaders and were very flexible but not everyone is. So, we thought may be there could be one simply idea for our project FLEXI SPRAY! FLEXI SPRAY is a spray that makes you instantly flexible. We first thought of ideas that would be good brand messaging but appealing to the eye. We wrote FLEXI SPRAY in big bubble letters full of color. We drew a big FLEXI SPRAY can. We decorated the can with bubbles. We also drew a before and after you use FLEXI SPRAY. We wrote why you should buy it and wrote the side effects tiny in the corner.
Our script is about two people in school. Hannah has already used FLEXI SPRAY and is tumbling around school. Katie is walking around and watching Hannah. Katie asked Hannah how she got so flexible and how she did all those trick. Hannah says that there is one simple solution FLEXI SPRAY. Hannah lets Katie use some. Then when Katie goes to do a trick she does a back hand spring step out. Then Hannah and Katie say thanks FLEXI SPRAY. Hannah says used by Mary Lou Retton while Katie does a handspring in the background.
In the video we used many different shots. In the beginning we used a establishing shot to show both Katie and Hannah and the background. When Katie is putting on the spray we used a medium shot. In the side effects and used by Mary Lou Retton scenes we used a close up shot. We used many different shots to make this video complete.
When we shot our video we encountered many problems. The funniest of these problems were the bloopers. Hannah fell in one of the bloopers. We moved to find a better spot so she would not get hurt if she fell again. Sometimes they did not know when to start so we used our fingers and when the third finger went down they would start. When we were in the middle of shooting our video the camera battery ran out. We charged the camera and waited the next day to complete the video.
I have learned a lot by doing this project. One is always to use your imagination. Your imagination can help you come up with inventions that can become real one day. Creativity was a very important in this project. We needed creativity to create our video and to make the poster. We also needed creativity to come up how to make a real FLEXI SPRAY prop.

My invention is the Brace–Former. After brainstorming, Tyra, Berdoucha, Tiffany, Andrea and I came up with the idea for the Brace–Former. We almost automatically thought of things that could transform you into something else and shape shifting. We thought of transporters and shape shifters. We decided to do a bracelet used for someone to shape shift with. While creating the thumbnail sketch, we thought of logos and slogans to put on our draft. Designing the poster was fun because we put glitter on it and used a lot of color. The Brace–Former is a shape shifter bracelet that transforms you into whatever you want to be. All you have to do is press the button on the bracelet, and think of what you want to be. Someone should buy it because it can make you into anything you want, including your wildest dreams. The Brace – Former costs only 3 payments of $9.99. No Visa or checks allowed. Our script stated the name of the invention, cost, what it does, examples and side effects. In our video we used tilt, zoom, close-up, medium, pan and establishing shots. We encountered a problem, when I wanted to do a scene while hanging upside down from a tree. But a teacher said I couldn’t do that. We also had some bloopers. Instead of the tree, I stood on the Omni Middle School sign, at the front of the school and we tried hard to prevent laughter and stay serious. During this project, I learned how to work as a team.

Technology Essay: Invention Process with Voki

Coming up with an invention was tough. It took awhile for my teamates and I to think up a great idea that would help people our age. But once we had an thought, it sprouted into a wonderful idea. Light as Air, we would call it. It was a bag that could hold as much things as you needed it to, and it would still be light as air.

To come up with the idea, I wanted something that would impact people my age. To do this, I thought of problems my friends and I had with school. I figured that everyone had a heavy bag. Therefore, I decided to create a bag like Light as Air. Creating a poster was fun, being able to draw and write what ever we wanted was a great joy for me. Then we did the thumbnail, storyboard, and script.

The thumbnail is just a piece of paper outlining what our poster would look like. We did the three styles of bags in many different colors, and all the information about it. We did this before we did the poster. Next we did the poster. We wanted it to be bright and colorful, wanted to send out a message, want it to be fun to look at. We just put everything on the poster that was on the thumbnail. After we did the poster, it was time to create a script. On the script we put everything we thought a person would want to know in a friendly encounter in the hallways at school.

Then we would do the storyboard. The shots we came up with for it was establishing shot medium shot, and many more.
After that we had to do a video. The hardest part of the video was remembering the lines. We quickly overcome that by memorizing them. I would use different lines next time to make it more believable.
I learned how to use different camera angles.

I think that my team did a great job working together throughout the whole project. Coming up with an idea for our invention was very easy. We all brainstormed to get the best idea. We all drew a picture of what we wanted it to look like and picked the best one. We all participated in making the poster and it turned out very good. It took us a while to make our video but we finally got a good one and it turned out really good.
Our invention is called The Mystical Makeup Machine. It is a product that does your make up for you in seconds instead of you working hard to do your makeup. We thought that this would be a really cool product and we wanted to invent it.

To come up with our invention we said that we wanted something girly. At first we said we were going to make a brush that straightens your hair. I thought that was a great idea. But then we came up with the mystical makeup machine and everyone in our group thought it was a great idea and we all wanted to make it.
So first we had to brainstorm our ideas for an invention which I thought was easy because we all agreed and wanted the same thing. Then we had to make a thumbnail which is where we all draw a miniature picture of our invention. After the thumbnail we designed our poster. It had to have the name of our invention, a drawing with color of the invention, a description of the invention that tells what the invention does, why someone should buy it, and how much it costs.
After all of the above we made a script for our video. Our script was about someone who was struggling putting on all their makeup so a girl who had the mystical machine was telling her to get it and that it was amazing. She tried out the mystical makeup machine and loved it.
The shot we used was an establishing shot, and a medium shot. We found these shots the easiest and best way to film our video.
Shooting our video, the problems we faced were that the actors weren’t speaking loud enough and kept on messing up. What we did to fix our problems were having the actors talk loud and keep on practicing.
To conclude, our project turned out very good. I learned how to film videos, how to write scripts, drawing, and more. I wouldn’t really change that much. I think we did really good.

My group started out with having no idea what to do.  After a lot of discussion, my group came up with the invention H2R.  H2R is a really cool drink that helps you remember anything.  You could remember anything from where you put your homework, or just to remember the actual assignment.  After buying one for about $80, you could remember something so fast, it would make your brain be put into another dimension, still trying to figure out what happened.

  While we were writing our script, we had to different ones.  One was for the 2 kids talking, and another was for me, the “random guy from the future” (announcer).  We had to fuse the two together to make one big script.  It took a lot of thinking from all of us to create the perfect script that will amuse everyone and anyone.

  Our story board was 6 frames long, each with a medium shot, not too far, but not to close.  We had everyone that was going to be in the “commercial” was in the storyboard.  We had a lot of fun deigning it to make it as funny as possible, while still addressing the subject properly.

  We had almost no problems shooting the video, so we decided to make some bloopers.  We made them AFTER we shot the video because we wanted a little more, so called, ‘pizzazz’.  We wouldn’t have to do anything differently next time because everything went to plan almost perfectly.

  We have learned that from this project, we can build up some great teamwork.  We can make some new friends, like I have, and you don’t have to argue about the stupid thing that don’t matter so we can get everything done in time without having to rush it.
