One of the big ideas of this course so far has been that of technology being a creative act. The word technology comes from the Greek word techne which means art or to make. Technology is about making things to satisfy needs, solve problems and increase our capabilities.
Use the questions below as a guide to writing a one-page essay about the invention project you made. The essay should use size 12 font, be single spaced, with a double space between paragraphs. First write your essay in Word (make sure you save your Word file), then post it to the blog at:
http://weblogs.pbspaces.com/mrgoldstein/2011/10/14/final-exam-first-quarter-2011-2012/
- Introduction – working together as a team to create an idea for an invention and document it through sketches, a poster and a video.
- What is your invention?
- Describe how you came up with the idea for your invention. Be specific.
- Write about the steps in creating your project, be specific.
- Brainstorming ideas for an invention
- Creating a thumbnail sketch for your poster
- Designing a poster with: the name of the invention, a drawing with color of the invention, a description of the invention that tells what the invention does, why someone should buy it and how much it costs.
- Next you wrote a script for a video you would make about your invention. What was your script about? Be specific.
- You sketched some storyboards for the shots you would take in your video. What shots did you come up with for your storyboard.
- Then you shot your video. What problems did you encounter in shooting the video. What did you do to solve them. What would you do differently next time?
- Next you edited your video. Tell about the steps you took to edit your video.
- Finally, tell how you shared the video (we posted it to the Vodcast server and embedded it in our classroom blog at http://weblogs.pbspaces.com/mrgoldstein
- What did you particularly enjoy doing in this project? Be specific.
- What do you think went particularly well? Why?
- Write a conclusion—what did you learn from this project?
- How well did your group work together as a team? What were the benefits of working as a team? What problems did you encounter working as a team? How did you work out your problems?

Technology 1st Final Exam – Essay
Imagine the future as a ball of clay, and imagine making something from it. Well, it’s only nine weeks into school and kids are already molding the future. In Mr. Goldstein’s technology class (period 2) kids are putting their hands down and creating inventions that no one ever thought possible. Everyone in the class broke into groups and started brainstorming their hardest. When everyone was done brainstorming, they would then draw the thumbnail, draw the poster, film the movie, and upload it onto the computer (Windows Movie Maker and the class blog). Our class is quite a bunch!
For starters, everyone was in groups of four or five except my group. My group of people consists of only me and Gillian, we were slower than all the other groups but our ideas were amazing (courtesy our imagination). Together we decided on the Zapper 5001. The Zapper 5001 is a little camera that can zap you into any video game on your computer and even your television. Gillian and I came up with the invention by stating the first thing that came to our minds; we would then write it down in our notebooks then when we started drawing, we chose what to put on our thumbnails. When it came time for our poster, we started drawing pretty fast but we soon fell behind because of the half days and religious holidays. Our poster was filled with color; you could look at it and never see a white spot. We wrote a lot about the invention too; we wrote how the invention could help you, how it could make life easier and how much it cost ($5000.01!!!). We would state how pressing buttons were boring, how all you have to do was press a button and you could get in the game, and on and on and on. I honestly think that the poster was the hardest part. And that was only the beginning!
Secondly, we began to write our script and draw our storyboards. Our script was hilarious but we had errors in the process so we rewrote it in a calmer version. It was about how a girl (Gillian) was tired of play the same old video game and that she wanted to actually be in the game; and then I come in and say that she can with the Zapper 5001. She would then change into a Harry Potter outfit and go outside and say that she was in a Harry Potter game. Finally the script will end with everyone saying how much they liked the invention. After we wrote the script, we drew a quick (but messy) storyboard with stick figures jumping in the air or wearing little hats. We thought about making the Harry Potter scene outside and the Zapper 5001 advertisement inside. This was one of the hardest parts because we encountered so many errors. This step was probably longer than the first step.
Third, Gillian and I had to memorize all our lines and shoot the video. We had so many difficulties. Some of them were that I lost my props or that the background sounds were so noisy. The camera also never turned in on the right time so we had to time the video correctly. And the most annoying perk was that no one could hold the cameras for us so we had to take the videos separately with only one person in the video at a time. We tried moving away to avoid the sounds, we did time the camera correctly, but we just couldn’t get two people in the video at once so we just made do with what we had. The next time we ever have a project like this, I will make sure that our group has at least three people and that we stay out of noisy places. Who knew just one simple video could cause so much trouble!
Lastly, we edited, shared, and worked together. When we edited our video we first uploaded the videos and photos to the computer and then put it on Windows Movie Maker and put them in order. Then we added titles and credits. After adding titles and credits; we made transitions and that is where the errors happened. When we added the transitions, the transition cut part of our movie off so we decided not to have any on the important spots. When our video was perfect, we shared it by posting it onto our classroom blog. We went on to the website (http://weblogs.pbspaces.com/mrgolstein) and then posted it on. Gillian and I worked pretty well as a team because it’s not easy to do a giant project with only two people. We had some ups and downs though; like, when Gillian was absent I had to do the poster all by myself which slowed us down. Another one was that I lost my props so we didn’t have all the humor we wanted to be in the video. But we went on as fast as we could and we edited our scripts so that the missing props won’t cause a problem. The ups were that we could work two times as fast as one person could and that we had a good process going (I would come up with the ideas and Gillian would write it down or vice versa). I really enjoyed being with my best friend, Gillian; and expressing my creativity. I thought that the poster look magnificent, all the details were perfect, the words were spelled correctly, and that was the only thing that we didn’t have errors on. The ending took a lot of work, but it was worth it, everything turned our perfect.
To sum it all up, Gillian and I made a project called the Zapper 5001. We went throught so many processes to make this successful. We made thumbnails, drew a poster, wrote scripts, and filmed movies. I learned to not underestimate things on how easy they look or sound and that success comes out of time and hard work. Now all we have to do is let this masterpiece dry and make its way into the world just like the future that our minds just molded.

THE BIRTH OF THE R4-84
We had to do an invention project for technology. David, Chase, and me. I thought of a robot. Chase though of a different robot. David wanted to make ‘The Get a Woman Instantly.’ We agreed on the robot.
It would have a claw to pick up things. We then argued on what it should look like. I could not make one to pick up things. We then agreed on making one that would attack animals. David then blurted out a name “The R4-84.”
MAKING THE R4-84
I said I can make one out of Lego, so they agreed. Then I created the R4-84, which I made out of scratch. I made a claw on the chassis of a Lego car. Then I added programming and calculated distances. Then I tested it; it was a success.
Chase and David liked it, so did the whole class. I didn’t think they would like it this much. Everyone came over there and wanted to see it and try it out. We had to make them go back to their group. It was a success!
WRITING THE SCRIPT
We had to write a script for our commercial. This is what we came up with: Chase: Aaaaaaaa! David: Has this happened to you? Well, try the R4-84! (New scene) Marcell: The R4-84 may attack you … warning. Chase: Ghaa! Yaaaaaa! (Struggles) Yaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Marcell: Listen to these happy costumers! Costumer NB1: The R4-84 Ruined my life! Why would you make such a thing? Why would you….. Costumer NB2: It Tried to KILL ME!!! Costumer NB 3: Don’t… buy… it….
SHOOTING THE VIDEO
We then shot our video. We added some things, and took some things out. We took out the parts we couldn’t make. Then we added more parts and bloopers. The bloopers were a bunch of funny videos and thing that made no sense what so ever. They were about things like ‘the world has gone mad!’
THE EDITING
We encountered some technical difficulties, including many re-shoots, mistimed shots, wrong angles, and more. We kept pausing at wrong times. We made many mistakes. We then had to narrow down 32 videos. We finally finished the editing, but then the video got sticky. We went to solve the problem. We then posted it to the Vodcast server.
CONCLUSION
We (I mean I) edited the videos. I cropped them, put them together, and added titles and credits. I made sure that it was good. We had some fights about editing, shooting, and making the whole thing look good. We got them resolved, thought. We had fun during the project. I can’t wait for the next one!

My team and I had a bit of trouble creating an idea. We finally all agreed on rocket shoes. We named it Air-Force 2. I started to sketch a drawing of my shoe, which is actually how we got the idea of rocket shoes. The names of the shoes I own are Air-Force 1. This made us realize the name has to do with flying so we decided to make rocket shoes to with the name Air-force 2. The sketch came out great and then I redrew the shoe on to the poster and the rest of my team colored it in red and white.
Air-Force 2 cost $259.99 the reason for buying the shoes were that man can finally fly without a plane. For our script we decided to make it like an infomercial and spoke really fast giving facts about the shoes. We had a problem when filming because we ran out of film. Other than that we had no problems we just got a new sd card. Then we edited a picture of me flying across our schools courtyard where we also filmed.
I filmed Silvia, David, Lucy, and Dylan cheering me on while I was flying. Then Mr.Goldstein helped our group edit a photo of me doing a Superman pose with rockets and then made it so that I look like I am flying across the school courtyard.
It was difficult working as a group, we all debated on what to film or what parts not to film. The biggest problem was when we had to film me jumping like super man, I wasn’t allowed to jump so that’s were the animation came in. Other than that we had fun and got along.

THE ANI-TRANS
About three weeks ago Mr. Goldstein assigned us a project where we had to work in teams to make a video about a new invention. My team made an animal translator called Ani-Trans. It started the video, poster, and script, which you can see at weblogs.pbspaces.com.
THE IDEA IS BORN
We were just sitting around when I came up with the idea that we should make an animal translator. We made a poster with the picture of the invention and a description of it. You could listen to your pet to understand what they want. It only cost sixty bucks. I drew the pictures and did some of the writing for the poster
WHAT IS THE ANI-TRANS
The Ani-trans was a pair of headphones and a backpack that I found at the store. The whole budget was $110, probably the most expensive project.
THE SCRIPT
In our script we said that the Ani-trans was only sixty bucks and easy to use. Then I made a storyboard of the video while my partner did nothing and we had an up close shot and an extremely up close shot. Some problems we encountered were that my partner didn’t want to be in the video, so we made him be a talking cat. But he still didn’t cooperate and kept saying meow meow meow in my ear. We used string to make the cat move and dance. We put it in a tree and a vending machine and even through it up in the air.
EDITING
Then we made bloopers and credits. Later we edited the video and that was fun. I made transitions like fade in sideways, zoom in, spin, and fade out. I also added a bloopers title. Mr. Goldstein helped me put music in. I picked a polka song but it didn’t work, so I found another one. After that we put the video on weblogs.
THE THINGS I LEARNED
My partner did help me with the poster and did eventually act in the video while being chased by a cat, so I think that you need a team to make a video or movie. I enjoyed editing the video and watching it. The editing and filming went well.
CONCLUSION
I think the video was a success. I cut some videos and added some. We had arguments and made them up. What I learned was that you need to pick your partners well.

Final Exam-Invention Project
My creative team, Stephanie and I, worked together on the invention project by brainstorming different ideas. We came up with many good inventions, but none of them seemed quite right. Then, we came up with the idea of the “Zapper 5001.” Stephanie and I are very creative and very smart, so, it was not much of a challenge for us to come up with a new invention that people everywhere could use. My team’s invention is called the “Zapper 5001” It is designed to “zap” you into a video game. This is a great invention because, it’s like playing video games but, instead of starring at a blinking screen and pressing buttons, you are in the game having more fun while being active. We came up with many different ideas, things that have to do with technology, and thus, the Zapper 5001 was born. My team’s thumbnail sketch showed a computer with a camera that puts you in the game. Next, we made a poster for our invention. It featured a computer with a Mario game on the screen with a girl poking her head in the game because she just entered the game. It also said the invention costs $5000.01 because it is called Zapper 5001.
The script for our movie was about a girl who is playing video games but decides she would like it better if she could really play it herself. Then, a voice comes and shows her how to zap her into the game she was playing. She enters the game and becomes Harry Potter. The girl jumps in the air and says, “Yay.” Next, Stephanie played a different girl who is demonstrating how the invention works. Finally, we shot our video. Most of it went smoothly, but, we had a small problem. We only had two people in our group, and one person had to be holding the camera. We solved that problem by having just one person in the video at a time.
The next step we took in the video process was editing our movie. First, we put a title for our movie, Zapper 5001. Second, we put in the different shots we wanted in a certain order. Next, we put in the bloopers from our video. There was one of Stephanie being distracted by various things. Another one we had was of me falling down when I jumped in the air. The bloopers were very humorous. Finally, we added credits. We put all the jobs that Stephanie and I did in the video. It was a team effort.
Lastly, we shared our video in the classroom blog at http://weblogs.pbspaces.com/mrgoldstein. My team worked very well together as a team. It is not hard to work together with your best friend. We did not argue much but if we ever disagreed on something, we would settle it in a civilized manner by talking it out, we are not homo habillis. I think our poster went particularly well because Stephanie is an incredible artist and we wrote very clever things to advertise our product. I enjoyed a lot of things about this project. I enjoyed working with my best friend, drawing our wonderful poster, shooting our video, and most of all, creating the Zapper 5001. This project taught me how to advertise, how to make a movie, and how to work together as a team.

Working together as a team was a lot of fun but there were a lot of disagreements. We had to work together to figure out witch one we wanted to do and that’s when the drab to fab cream was born. The poster was amazing it took a lot of work but it was all worth it. Also it took a lot of sketches. When we finally got to the video it was so hard because there was a lot of goofing around but we pulled it together.
My invention was drab to fab it was made to make you pretty. It also took away pimples, zits, bad body odor, freaky hair, hairy legs, a nose job, and even a nose job, or any unpretty features of your self. The sydafects are itchiness, rashes, lose of hair, redness where ever you put the lotion, your face might more pimples, dizziness, and you might have an allergic reaction.
Brainstorming was hard because everyone had different ideas. Like super bubble gum, a gum that tastes like all different three different types of foods, and the moldy bread container. Creating a thumbnail was easy because all we had to do is take a picture of are poster and post it to the schools blog. The poster was an ugly girl, then a pretty as the results after you use it. I think someone should use it because, if you’re ugly you should use it. It costs only 29.99!!!
The script is, Luna T. as ugly girl and pretty girl, Kyla P. as mom, Stephanie as camera girl, and Ashlenn P. as sales girl.
The pictures for the storyboard we made are everyone behind the scenes, and our poster.
The problems we had were people cooperating with others. Also the video had not had gone as we planned. So next time “certain people will cooperate.”
When we edited our video we had to put the camera in the computer, then we had to go to my computer, then thumbnails, and then click on the camera number, then edit our video, then finally put it on the school blog.
Our group worked well as a team. The benefits in working in a team are it’s easier. The problems we had were people were fooling around. To solve the problem we made different people do different jobs.
I enjoyed doing this project because we had a chance to be creative. I think the video went well because there were no problems in the video. Also I learned its hard being in a group and it takes a lot of work to make a video, imagine a movie, how long does it take to process a video.

Final Exam: by Nicholas C. period 2
There was an enormous amount of work in order to put together my group’s video. From the poster design to the creating of the video, the Nano-Dino was an excellent idea. The Nano-Dino was a machine dinosaur that protected you from brutes, teachers, & people who despise you. The group manufactured this marvelous machine from Josh. We chose his idea because of its originality, brilliance, and because the supplies were much more available than any of our other ideas. The Nano-Dino did not take very long to be created. In fact, it only took a matter of minutes.
The Nano-Dino did not take very long to be created. In fact, it only took a matter of minutes. Although, the rest of our ideas were ingenious as well. It took somewhat longer to complete the idea by comparison to the sketch. The thumbnail sketch turned out quite nicely, actually. Our group managed to complete both the Nano-Dino’s idea and design in one day. We included a mixture of both immense and tiny literature in our poster. The drawing of the Nano-Dino looked similar to a blue Spinosaurus (a type of dinosaur). The Nano-Dino was designed to neutralize any being that disliked you or “ticked you off”. I have to say, Vicente, Josh, Sadid, and I (Nicholas) did a nearly perfect job designing this project. Our invention should be used around the world to solve all of the world’s bullying issues, for only $250!!!!!!!
The script was the most difficult part of the video. Our script basically included me (I am the nerd wearing an afro) getting beaten severely by a brute, or bully; (Vicente) then a teacher apprehends the bully; (Sadid) and a very creepy business man randomly appears out of thin air, and soon introduced my character to the Nano-Dino. The shots we used for the storyboard were close ups, extreme close ups, establishing shots, medium close ups, tilts, and distance shots. We faced only a few challenges while shooting the video. The only problem I can think of currently is how it took many different edits of the script till we decided one that the group particularly enjoyed. The 1st & only step we needed to take in order to edit our video was to edit some background noise.
We shared this video by posting it on Mr. Goldstein’s blog that you are reading right now. We did that by posting the video at the Vodcast server at weblogs.pbspaces.com/mrgoldstein. Our group worked excellently as a team. We all cooperated very efficiently. However, we did come across some issues. Our ideas had tended to “bash heads” so to speak, and we had our fare share of bickering. But we managed to overcome our different perspectives and created a great project. The benefits of working as a team were that we could all add our own flavor to the video. We destroyed our problems by taking all of our best ideas and morphing them into a super video. My favorite part of the video was acting out all of our deleted scenes/bloopers. I was the most famous person in our video. I could almost hear you laughing along with my character. Our final product was very good. I learned how to create an invention, sell it, and enjoy it all at the same time.
October 20th, 2011 at 12:09 pm
Natalie, Brittney, and I first started working on the invention the minute we agreed to work together. Natalie and I both had ideas for the invention, but in the end we ended up doing my idea because it was already planned out and seemed more possible. After we decided on my invention I explained it to them, and we started to brain-storm posters ideas. In the end we decided to combine all three poster ideas. In the poster stage of the project every thing went smoothly and the poster ended up great. After wards we had to complete the movie/commercial portion of the project, which was probably the trickiest part of the project but was also a breeze.
My group’s invention was the Cyber Eye®. The cyber eye is a kind of contact lens that works for people who need contacts & those who don’t. Cyber eye also comes in the format of an eye transplant substitute and works for every one. Cyber eye also has many special functions such as x-ray vision, heat vision, freeze vision, under water vision, internal brain computer, and many more eye applications. Along with eye applications cyber eye also has wireless connection to your brain giving you other abilities such as the force. Cyber eye also works for any one of any shape or size. Cyber eye is only $150.99 per eye.
I came up with the idea of this invention from a project similar to this one which I did in fifth grade. The idea came to me when Mr. Goldstein mentioned that we had to make a commercial because the project I did in fifth grade was to make a commercial for an invention.
During the project there was a series of steps in the completion of the poster faze. The first step was brain storming. During this process Natalie and I discussed which idea we should use. The second step was to create a thumbnail draft of the poster. My group and I made different drafts and in the end we combined them in the end to create the poster which leads me to step three in the project process, creating the poster. During the final process faze we created the poster, during this faze we designed the positioning sketched the poster out and then colored in the perfected sketch.
The final step in making the project was the video/commercial. During this step there were many procedures. The first was writing the script. I designed a script that reflected on the posters contents so the video would go along with the poster. Secondly I made the story board. When I made the story board I drew still shots of fragments of scenes. The third step of the video production was filming the video. During the filming there was only one problem, background noise. My group and I solved this problem by editing the sound and using voice over. The next step was editing the video. During this faze I first imported the video then edited the sound, after wards I added the texts tittles and extras and then finally I put it all in order. Finally my group and I, we posted the video to the vodcast server and embedded it in our classroom blog at http://weblogs.pbspaces.com/mrgoldstein .
In the end my group and I did a very good job of working together and cooperating. During the entire project no one argued or complained and the project was completed with ease. The benefits of the group was that we all got along as well the fact we each had our own attributes that contributed to the completion of the project. The part I particularly enjoyed about this project was the editing of the movie and the filming. I think the filming went particularly well because we didn’t make too many mistakes and we completed it particularly fast.
In a conclusion I enjoyed completing this project and I learned that advertizing and coming up with a new product is harder than it appears.

Final exam essay
♥Working together as a team with Paige, Courtney, and Yasmina to create an idea for an invention and document it though sketches, a poster and a video. My group had a tough time coming up with an idea for our invention. Then Paige came up with the idea of making a special perfume. When you spray it, it instantly makes you smell amazing, look beautiful, and it makes people fall in love with you.
When we were brainstorming for our invention, we had a lot of different ideas, such as shoes that play music when you walk (so it’s more fun to exercise, and run.), and a magic mirror that comes with makeup already inside of it, but we realized that those ideas were already invented. When creating a thumbnail sketch for our poster, I drew a bottle that was in the shape of a heart, with a squeeze pump at the end of it. I colored it pink, red, and purple. The reason why it’s in the shape of a heart is because it has to do with love. That’s why we called it ‘Love me’.
When creating the poster for our invention, it was very easy because it almost looked exactly like the thumbnail sketch. Love me is a magic perfume makes a huge impact on your love life. Once you spray it, you instantly smell good, look beautiful, and all of the boys will fall in love with you. It costs 250 dollars, plus tax ☺.
Our script is about two friends who are at the mall. One friend says that she smell something really good. Then, they follow the smell and enter a store called Perfume Mania. A cashier welcomes them into the store and asks one of the friends if they want to test out their newest perfume. The friends agree to test it out. The cashier sprays it on the friend’s wrist. All of a sudden, the friend that tried the perfume is surrounded by boys. They sniff her and tell her she smells really, really good. The friend starts to get scared and she asks the cashier what was happening. The cashier tells her that she is under a love spell, and it will only ware off if she stops using it, or if she sprays a lot of it on her. That way, it would smell bad and they would stop following her around and they would be disgusted by the smell. So, she sprayed a lot all over her body and the boys ran away.
Next, we shot our video. We had a few problems while shooting it. For example, I didn’t speak loud enough and I didn’t project my voice. We also didn’t know where to shoot our video and we didn’t have a lot of props. Luckily, Paige brought in a bottle of perfume that we could use as a prop. That helped a lot. The next time we have to shoot a video, I will try to make my voice louder. Maybe that would make things a lot easier.
After that, we edited our video. We imported each shot, then we made a title, then we made credits. It was a very simple process.
Finally, we posted our video to the Vodcast server and embedded it in our classroom blog at http://weblogs.pbspaces.com/mrgoldstein.
My group worked really well as a team. We all got along and it was fun. The benefits of working as a team were that we got to spend time with each other. The only problems we encountered were that my voice wasn’t loud enough, and that we had difficulties getting props. Paige helped us out by bringing in a bottle of perfume.
When doing this project, I particularly enjoyed drawing the thumbnail sketch and drawing the poster. I love to draw. It is very fun and easy for me to do.
I think the drawing part went particularly well because I happen to be very good at drawing.
In conclusion, I learned that teamwork and participation is very important. Things might not go as well when you don’t participate, and teamwork is important because working with 4 people was better than working alone. It was also a benefit because we all had great and useful ideas that we put together to come up with a unique invention.♥

TECHNOLOGY FINAL EXAM BY: JOSHUA R.
My name is Josh R. for my invention project I invented Horcrux Hunt. Horcrux Hunt is a board game. In Horcrux Hunt you get transported in the world of Harry Potter. In this game you have to search for Voldemorts 7 Horcruxs to destroy and kill him. The definition for a Horcrux – Dark Magic which is injected into objects which you hide, to separate your soul into seven pieces. Here are some of the reasons of how are Harry Potter fan group created this awesome invention/Board Game.
In our group we all liked Harry Potter so we all thought it would be an amazing idea to make an Invention involving Harry Potter. At first we couldn’t think of any ideas but then we thought wouldn’t it be a spectacular idea to create a board game that transports you into the world of Harry Potter. In my group we all knew how Harry Potter killed Voldemort so we thought why dont we make a game that you actually get to kill Voldemort yourself instead of Harry Potter getting all the kudos.
In our script we made it a message from yours truly Harry Potter in which he shows up in a crystal ball from the human world and sends a message for all muggles. In this game the muggles can feel the power to be a potentially powerful wizard who gets the opportunity in the virtual world to kill Voldemort. In our script we liked the way we worded it because we tried to make a mix of human words and words from the world of wizardry. This was so muggles can comprehend with such words.
We all had a very long complicated story board for this invention. This was very complicated for our group because we all had a very complex invention which non Harry Potter fans/ muggles wouldn’t understand. Our story board had 5 to 6 slides. The story board took us a half an hour to forty five minutes.
When our group shot our video we kept having to restart because there was too much background noise. On top of all this shenanigans I kept laughing. Our camera person kept going off into space and wandering off. We all mostly had trouble getting it so I could see the script without it hitting the lens of the camera when we were recording our video.
To stop these problems we kept waiting for everybody else to finish so there was the least bit of background noise. After that we also waited till we were calmed down and serious so we wouldn’t keep ruining the video by laughing.
When we edited our video we took our time. This process took either one or two days I don’t remember. I picked out our groups music because we couldn’t find Hedwigs theme on royalty free music so we had to improvise..
When we designed our script it went well because it took us five minutes and it came out great. When are group was writing the script we thought of using Harry Potter because he is the main actor in the Harry Potter movie series. We didn’t add Ron or Hermione because it was to much to do and we would have to buy more costumes so we decided just to do Harry Potter.
The best part of the project was by far are group. In our group we worked together because it was a girl who I know from the temple and soccer and the other girl is in three of my classes. I actually really enjoyed this project and I hope that we do this project again if i’m in technology.

Teleglove
My invention was the Teleglove. We came up with this idea by just randomly brainstorming as a group. Our group had Aaron, Rave, Nick, Joey and me Will. It was really random but we all agreed on the invention so we did it. When we came up with the idea we had to make a sketch of it. In the sketch we had a glove with a watch dial in the center of it. Then we had to draw it on a poster board. We drew the same thing that we had before and we had to color it and put reasons to buy it and what it does
After the poster we had to make a script for a video of the invention. I was the main star. The script was about a kid who was put into a cage by to bully’s and they wouldn’t let me out. It was a funny video in the end. Then in the video we pretended that I was teleporting to different places like in the class, the sky, and a bunch more places.
In the video we had to get the perfect angle for the shot. That part was a little challenging. But we made it work by maybe changing direction or different spots around the boundaries. That is how we changed the shooting around. When we where shooting the video we where having a lot of fun. But sometimes fooling around isn’t the way to get a good grade. But we ended up doing a good job
Next after shooting the video we had to edit the video on movie maker. It is a little hard editing the video but we are learning as a group and will not get defeated as a group. We are very good as a group in my opinion. After we are done we have to upload it to the broadcast server. And then people can watch from anywhere they want to.
As a group we had our differences but that is the fun of it we have to work them out. That is what a group does. I think that this project went very well. We made the video really funny so I think people will like this video. I learned that when all your minds are put together great things can happen and you will meet new people that you didn’t even know of before. That is why I like this project and really liked working in groups

Our invention was the Food Phone, our as in four middle schooler’s
Who don’t know anything about working as a team, but we did it and had a great time while we did it. Our idea was to make a phone be a food teleportation device. Three things we had to do were make a poster and script, make a storyboard and video, and last we edited and shared the video.
Coming up with the idea was easy ,we all like food and we all like cell phones .we put it together and we got The Food Phone. We thought about the prices and the things it would do and we came up with charging $500 for the retail price and $15.99 a month and your first three months are free. We came up with the idea that if we had the technology to teleport things we would have food be teleported by texting in the food you want and it pops or poufs’ out of a space from your cell phone. We made a poster by drawing and coloring in the pictures and writing facts and guarantees .after that we wrote a script and me and Ralitza , one of our group members , decided who was going to play who. So Jonathan G played the kid who doesn’t have any money with him to buy food and is sad until his friend (Ralitza) comes and lets him barrow the Food Phone and he get his food . I was the spokes person who announced things and did most of the transactions and Cassandra was the camera person.
After all the writing we also did some drawing or as Mr.Goldstien calls it storyboarding. To make a storyboard you have to take multiple kinds of shots which include close up, even closer us, and even closer up. so our close ups were first you see me (spokesperson) and than we close up to Jonathan . than we zooms out to me than close up again than you show all of us than we made a montage of kids in our class with the food phone and a bag of little bites and a drink with smiles on there faces . Than we shot our video, which caused a lot of problems, we couldn’t stop laughing. Jonathan waste getting annoyed and Cassy kept moving the camera. Mostly Jonathan wouldn’t smile, .but I had a great time even though we had to keep retaking it. I don’t think I would have done anything differently.
Next we edited our video. Which mostly me and Jonathan did was out music for there titles and credits and picking out transition\s together, even Cassy and Ralitza helped. We shared it, Jonathan mostly did that. Which we posted on our class room blog http:// weblogs.pbspaces,.com/mrgoldstien .
Our group worked great together because we all made each other laugh ,each of us contributed an equal amount of wok and ideas into our project .the only problem we encountered was that we honestly were to busy on having fun that we wasted our time by making mistakes . I guess we worked that problem out by finishing on time and the video coming out great. I think the thing that in particularly enjoyed about making a video and having the whole world being able to see it. I think the thing that our team worked best at was the editing because we got it done the quickest.
I loved creating the food phone and doing the invention project. Something I learned about this project was a lot of fun and making a commercial is really easy when you have Mr. Goldstien as a teacher .Don’t forget to watch our video!

Freeze Time Watch
BY: Johnny
You this wasn’t just any sudden idea. Freeze Time Watch was an idea I got from my dreams. I have dreamed several times about being able to freeze time. When I heard we were to create an invention it instantly popped to my mind,” something that will freeze time”. We first started with freeze time bracelet. Not our best idea. Freeze Time Watch just felt right. Time, watch it made perfect sense.
We first had made the sketch of the freeze time bracelet it was ok, it had the exact same functions as the watch, it just didn’t show time. Before we could start the final poster we had the idea of it being a watch it sounded much better and it sketch also became much better. We decided to make the final poster and it came out as good as we thought. We had the most fun with our poster. Our poster took us the longest to complete (3 or 4 days). We had lots of laughs making the poster. It has a big picture of our product, and info of all its awesome features it has around.
Next we made a script to video that would demonstrate a feature of the watch. We made it about a kid who really wanted the watch as soon as he saw it because he would always miss the bus. One day he randomly got the watch and he uses it to beat time and get to school on time. When he got to school he unfroze time and his teacher rewarded him. The storyboard had some very interesting shots. First we have a shot of the kid missing the bus. Then he gets the watch, he freezes time. He gets to school and teacher rewards him. After that, we finally started shooting the video. The video recording went pretty fast. We shot for about 2 days. The only problem we had was the noise frequency. You can’t really prevent the noise. You sometimes can by having a better camera or have a separate microphone.
Then, editing was the easiest we just had to split some videos add some transitions and credits then we were done. We successfully posted the video on the schools vodcast page for all to see. We worked perfectly together and we were very productive. We had a lot of fun it stimulated a lot of conversations and humors. We literally encountered no problems, only maybe fooling around too much, but we simply just got over that. Making the poster was the best part. It’s just so fun coloring and drawing, so it was the part that came out best. I learned how to use the windows movie maker, and now I know how efficient it can be. Also that sometimes working with someone you didn’t actually know can be a lot of fun.

My team invented the X-Backpack. The X-Backpack can do you homework for you, has a built in fridge, and a GPS. We couldn’t come up with anything else. The X-Backpack was the first thing we came up with. We wanted the picture of our invention to have a big X on the front because of the name. We really didn’t have a reason to call it The X-Backpack. The X-Backpack costs $99.99.
In the script for the video I play a kid who has a really lame backpack and I want a new and cool one. My partner Hayley is trying to sell me the backpack by showing me all the cool things it does. We had some problems shooting the video. There were other kids in the courtyard where we were shooting and they were making a lot of noise. Then Hayley and I forgot our lines so many times and forgot what we were supposed to do so we had to start the scene over again. Another problem we had while filming was trying to get the camera to stay on top of Hayley’s pencil case because we had to be in the shot together at the same time and had no one else to hold the camera.
Next, we edited our video. First, we had to put all the scenes we shot in order on Movie Maker. Then, we added transitions from scene to scene. Next, we added titles and credits and added music to it. Then when we were done editing we posted it to the Vodcast server and embedded it in the classroom blog. The thing I liked most about this project was editing the video because I liked listening and picking the music for the credits.
I think it’s better to work with a partner or in groups because, if you need help with something, you can just ask your partner. We didn’t have a lot of problems working together. The only problem we had was not always agreeing on something. I think the filming was pretty easy because it didn’t take long and we only had to shoot a few scenes.
