A New Beginning…

September 5, 2010 | | 72 Comments

Our first three weeks was a huge success!  I know it was a big adjustment for many students coming into the middle school and having to deal with 6 teachers, all those books, papers to get signed and all the rules.  From my point of view it was just as scary.  I had to meet and greet 125 new students that all have different personalities, needs and wants.  Not to mention how smart you all are.

The lockers did give us a challenge but most of you have already mastered this skill.  This year I was very successful at securing our class set of books. Thank you to the 32 students who volunteered to use the online textbook.

So what did you think about how your first 3 weeks of 6th grade?  Would you like to share how it went?

Please read Welcome to 6th Grade Math before posting a comment.

I was wondering if you got jipped out of Christmas gifts when you were a kid since your birthday is the day after Christmas??
    LOL

    Ms. Ionno Reply:

Yes, I did and still do get gypped. But I am used to it by now.

This is Matias. Your Blog is really cool. It is a good way to communicate and to keep things moving. Your birthday is shown in “ALL ABOUT MS IONNO” as December 26th. I could not find the year though. I guess you want to keep your age a secret.

Moving to Duncan was a big leap and I was a little scared at first. By now I think I am getting the rhythm of the new schedule.

    See you on Tuesday

Thank you for sharing. The site is very informative. This one is new too me, therefore, I do not know how to create a web site or link. If you have any suggestions or instructions, I will create a link and/or website.

The first three weeks were quick and forced Dimitri and I to work more efficiently. It was overwhelming for Dimitri at first but with my encouragement, he was able to relax and get through it.

Thank you for keeping us all abreast of what is happening in our world….the world of Math.

  15.    Dimitri P****** on September 6, 2010 4:30 pm

    Ms. Ionno,

the first three weeks were a bit overwhelming for Dimitri and for me. Maybe it was because he was now in Middle School or more in reference to the information you provided above. However, once we got into the swing of things, as the 3 weeks came to a close, I think I can say now with ease that “we” will be okay.

Even though we are still trying to stay on track, the calendar that you have provided is extremely useful.

We will do all we can to continue to support you as an edcator. We appreciate you and hope the rest of your year goes extremely well.

    MD Hightower-Penick,
    Dimitri’s Mother

Sophia and I enjoyed your blog. your bday is 12/26 and our favorite food is Italian as well. Sophia tends to struggle with math, but we are going to try and stay on top of everything this year. I like how you have all those puzzles and learning tools on edline. Sophia will make sure she uses them to help her understand all the math concepts. I have always used edline to follow my daughters progress but if you feel Sophia is falling behind or doesn’t understand something, please let me know asap, as she rarely asks for help on her own.
    Thanks,
