Dean Shareski is a Digital Learning Consultant with the Prairie South School Division in Moose Jaw, SK, Canada. He specializes in the use of technology in the classroom. Mr. Shareski considers himself a digital learning specialist and believes teachers and students ought to use technology to connect ideas and learn in a safe, relevant, authentic way to answer questions, share ideas and develop community. Learning can be fun and personal.
Mr. Shareski currently teaches a college course called Computers in Education at the University of Regina. As part of this course, Mr. Shareski has recruited 44 teachers from 7 countries to work with 27 of his college students. His students are preparing to become teachers and this course is designed to give them exposure to classrooms in a virtual context.
I am very excited to be one of the 44 teachers taking part in this mentoring program. Through this collaborative effort I plan to create a virtual learning environment for my students.
This week I will be meeting with our district’s technology specialist to learn how to use Adobe Connect. With this application, I plan to create instant, collaborative meetings with my class and the mentors assigned to me by Mr. Shareski.
We have just met one of our mentors Kyle Webb. Through virtual interaction and digital media we are planning some fun and exciting enrichment activities for my classes coming up in the next marking period.
