What should we read as a class novel in Q2?

What would you want to read as a class novel during Q2? Remember it should be classroom appropriate, good for discussion, and not too long. Think about a novel that would be a good fit for us. It could be a classic, part of a series, a specific genre, etc.  Tell me in your comments what book you think we should read. Explain in at least three reasons why we should read it. Tell me if you have already read the book.  Give this some thought.

  • I think that the book, out of my mind, by Sharon M. Draper would be an appropriate book to read because it teaches kids not to judge by what someone looks or acts like. The book is about a girl who has special needs and has to be put in a wheelchair. Whenever she’s excited, she goes wild and screams, so she has to be put in a special class at school. No one knows that she is actually the smartest kid in school. At some points, it’s a marshmallow book, other times it’s a goldie, and sometimes a muscle. I loved it.

  • The book I belive that should be pick as the class novel is How to kill a moking bird. It not like that is an easy book to read. I never read it myself but I heard it is a really good book. Idt became a movie so that also means it is good. And People told me it was one of the greatest books ever read. So i belive this book should be our class set for our novel.

  • I would like to read the book Hunger Games. I would like to read this book because this book sounds like an amazing middle school book. It also has a series so if people like the book Hunger Games they could always read the next book in the series. I also would like to read the book because so many said that is an amazing and no one had ever told me it was a horrible book. I have not read this book but I cant wait to do if we read this book in class.

  • I would want our class to read Shiver. Shiver is a book I am currently reading. It is kind of about a girl named Grace and a wolf boy named Sam who she falls in love with after he saved her life. It’s his last year of being a human and he wants to spend it with her. It keeps you interested and has a good story.

  • A book that I might be good for our class is City of Bones, because it has almost everything. It has a lot of things that both guys and girls will love. It has a bit of action and adventure for the guys and a bit of romance and drama for the girls. Another thing is that it’s part of a trilogy. It has two more books that I’m reading. They’re called City of Ashes and City of Glass. I think that these books will be great for our class because it takes us on an epic adventure. Each book make us travel in a world of fiction with different character, places incidents of the author’s imagination.

  • A novel I have read and would recommend for our class reading is called Thirteen Reasons Why. I thought this to be a very good book that teenagers can relate to. There are excellent characters with a combined theme of love and mystery for both boys and girls interest.

  • The novel I think we should read in class is The Grapes of Wrath. I think we should read this because it is a classic that has a high lexile that is perfect for an 8th grader. It is also a book on the top 100 novels list and the feedback on it is good. This book would be perfect and i hope we read this because i think the class and I would like it.

  • As you said in class, i think we should read looking for alaska. It sounds like a very inspiring novel and would be a great book. I hear it has many good reviews, that recomends it to our age group.

  • I think that for the second quater we should read the hunger games book. Because i have heard that the book is really interesting and different from others. Even from other people too, they said that the book was amazing. So i think we should read the hunger games for the second quater.
