 Biography information:

Christina Crespo is the School District of Palm Beach County’s first Environmental Sustainability & Recycling Coordinator – a position created in 2007. Ms. Crespo is responsible for developing and implementing a District-wide “green” initiative, which includes efforts to enhance waste reduction, materials reuse, recycling, resource conservation, environmentally-preferable purchasing, and curriculum integration. She also represents the District’s interests in the design phase of new school construction, as one of the District’s LEED-accredited professionals. Ms. Crespo conducts outreach and education to schools in the areas of recycling and energy conservation, maintains the District’s “green schools” website, and is the chairperson of the District’s green task force.

 

Prior to joining the School District, Ms. Crespo was the Southeast District Pollution Prevention Coordinator for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and worked with local industry to reduce negative environmental impacts and increase recycling efforts. She also assisted area hotels under the state’s “Green Lodging” certification program.

 

Ms. Crespo is a proud graduate of the Palm Beach County public school system and received a B.S. in Natural Resource Management/Environmental Policy from Cornell University.
